Quite frankly I dont see Rafa's goal is just to win a few matches in Cinncy, Rafanoy?

Well of course, he will try to win the title because he loves competing, but his team knows that the bigger prize picture is US Open. They will monitor on what needs to be done in order to be fully prepared for US Open. If Nadal wins Cincy, then it is super bonus for him. But, the main goal is to get some matches, see on what needs to be assessed for US Open and last but most importantly: STAY HEALTHY for the US Open!

Remember, the only reason he is playing Cincy is because he wasn’t healthy enough to play Canada. So, he will definitely use Cincy as a way to get some competitive matches and go on a run at US Open.

As I said to you before, I dont think he would have entered Cinncy, if his injury wasnt 100%, too much of a gamble before the USO.
I think we all want him to remain healthy for the rest of the year.He has a reasonable draw,hopefully all goes well.

I don’t have a problem with him playing Cincy at all. I do think his main reason of playing Cincy other than he is 100% injury “free” is because he wants competitive matches before the US Open starts.

I agree, Rafa would want competitive matches in Cinncy before the USO, also I looked at the long range weather forecast at Cinncy which as you know can get very humid, not too bad at all.,hopefully it stays that way.

Remember, if Medvedev reaches the QF, then Nadal wouldn’t be number 1 even if he wins Cincy.

If we are talking about seeding purposes at US Open, I am more interested in the 2nd seed. Alcaraz can overtake Nadal in the rankings if he wins Cincy this upcoming week.

I know, I know draws are only paper potential in the grand schemes of things BUT as a Nadal fan who wants me to win his Slam#23, I would prefer Nadal to be the 2nd seed and have Alcaraz be on Medvedev’s half of the draw at the US Open than Nadal being the 3rd seed POTENTIALLY face Alcaraz/Medvedev back to back for the title.
