Perhaps so, but the ship has sailed where he'll ever be my favorite. This week Dimi played really good. He might be the favorite here.

Most of the times I actually root for Nadal not only he loses but also plays like crap.
Surely all of that is subjective, and what you hope to be true. Firstly, Rafa is not injured. If Roger has been playing crappy, as you say, AND he has a bad back, I'd say Nadal has the better chance of turning things around. But we'll see.Actually, I think Fed played crappier (from the second match onwards in Montreal) than Nadal did in Montreal or Cincy. I mean it.
This is not sarcasm.
However, I think Fed will be able to regroup and perform much better. I doubt Nadal will be able to raise his level much higher than what we saw recently, in time for USO.

His ROS still quite subpar.
I understand that point of view. I was so frustrated by him many times before. But I think he can still pull it altogether before too late, only for a few times perhaps, if not for a continuous timeframe. Now with all the injuries at the top of the ranking, there are plenty of opportunities.Perhaps so, but the ship has sailed where he'll ever be my favorite.
He may well do better, but I'm kinda done with him. I'm not saying that I won't be reasonably happy for him if he can find the cojones to be the player his talent suggests he might have been, but I won't invest my energy in rooting for him.I understand that point of view. That's the total amount of time he came to the net between 2008 and 2016 ! He would have had more success if he had this mindset earlier in his career I think.Ferrer has definitely added more net play to his game. 17/23 today at the net.
LOL! Hey, they play they way they do, and incorporate changes as they can or must. The fact that they even can is amazing. Most of us are happy to have one half-way decent shot. That's the total amount of time he came to the net between 2008 and 2016 ! I have a soft spot for Ferrer, but, in theory, I'm rooting for Kyrgios, as I want to see him do well. But it's harder in practice. I'm pleased to see Ferrer holding his own so well. I would like to see a 3rd set.Vamos Ferru vamos!!!!!!!!!
Zverev's got 2. And all the rest went to Fedal, I think. I'm pulling for Kyrgios. He had to fight with Ferrer today, and this was a perfect set-up for him to get bored. But he hung in. Step in his maturity. Now let's see how he and Dimitrov fight for it. I'm very keen for this final. I would argue that Grigor has more to fight for, being the one that has been so long without it. Could be quite the battle.Awesome: we will have a new big title winner, which makes the second of the year.
Somewhere I predicted that at least one of Zverev, Kyrgios, Dimitrov, and Thiem would win a big title this year. Looks like (at least) two of them will.
