Other game was crazy. Don't know why Naka accepted the draw there. That turned into bullet

Naka-Kasparov. This should be good. Naka might be too fast, that's how he won the game against Caruana.

Great game! Just shows you that Gary could easily still be a top 5 player. No way I could believe that his blitz is better than classical now

It's possible. One thing though is that I feel blitz is actually better for older players. The main disadvantage of age is that it's a lot harder to concentrate for long periods of time in the game. And it gets harder as a long tournament/match progresses. I think we've seen that with Anand. Even Kasparov himself before he retired was starting to draw won positions and lose some drawn positions.

I figured coming in Kasparov would be far from a pushover here, he could easily finish top 2. If he was playing these guys in a triple round robin of classical it probably wouldn't go well.

Man, that game with Caruana was wild, looks like it was a draw.

That's a fair point

He is still impressive. That's why I cringed at that Naka comment about him only being good at openings. Pretty appalling

Yup! Me too! He hasn't earned the right to make those sorts of comments. Has he won a blitz or rapid world championship yet? I can't remember but I don't think so

^ Surprisingly not. He is awesome at blitz, at least on the internet. Playing live and playing only against fellow elite players is a different dynamic though.

And the old man just blundered the game away. Had a nice position vs. So before an awful Nc3

Kasparov had that game too. That's the part of rust/age that he naturally has to worry about playing an event like this.

Garry has a nice attack against So here. Seeing Gazza's pieces surrounding your king would be terrifying!
