About Chengdu:

Chengdu is the capital of southwestern China's Sichuan province. Chengdu's history dates back to at least the 4th century B.C., when it served as capital for the Shu Kingdom. Artifacts from that dynasty are the focus of the Jinsha Site Museum. The city is also home to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a conservation center where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in a natural habitat.

A Tomic Fognini final is one of the weirdest possible match ups in tennis. Having said that, also one of the greatest combos of raw talent there could be -- combined with the least possible productive attitudes.

I guess you're giving "hope" to us all that Kyrgios will come around! His skills are superior to many, but if he has a goldfish swimming around in his head, all that talent means nothing! In my day the biggest "waste" had to be Ilie Nastase! He had every shot in the book and playfully won while having a good time with the fans! He obviously had demons which would take him over allowing "no names" to defeat him at times, but I had a lot of regard for his game! He got to #1 in the early years of the ATP computer, won several majors & YEC's, had 2 classic losses in Wimbledon finals, & competed against some of the best from Laver/Rosewall to Borg/Connors! I've written extensively that Safin fits into this category; wicked talent, but screwed up in the head! He was a "Nastase" with power and blew out players like Sampras in a USO final and outlast a Fed "down under!" Kygrios hasn't won a major yet to fit him with these other past stars, but I think he'll steal a couple even if helium's keeping his head inflated instead of a brain! Being part of that "Next Gen," after the "Big 3" exit, everything will be up for grabs; majors, Masters, and YE #1! :yesyes:

You lost me. What has Kyrgios to do with the post you responded to?

Maybe I'm just tired, but I thought it related to mercurial talent due to a lack of focus by players! I just added Kyrgios to the mix!

Your conclusion is generally right, but the fun thing is that I am probably the only guy in this forum who does not think Kyrgios is particularly talented. Actually I think he is one of the least talented players of the top 100.

You are not the only one. I don't find him as talented as others either.
Take his serve away, and you will see what is left. Average skills otherwise .

But then again, how he, without a coach and without much practice, manages to play the way he does if it is not on pure talent.
