Just when I thought that draw opened for Bailashville, he promptly exits.

I did think he had a good shot, just before he didn't. I, for one, wouldn't have predicted any of the guys left to win it (Djere, Berrettini, Krajinovic, PH Herbert,) but one of them will.

Djere won one clay event in South America plus he is the highest ranked. Suddenly he is the favorite.
Berrettini also won a clay event last year.
The other two never won an ATP title.

So much for my CuCo Classic (©mrzz).

Ugh. We jinxed it.

@herios, Djere is indeed the favorite, actually the tournament he won is a 500 (Rio), where he beat the D- version of Thiem along the way. Very open tournament in fact but a good chance of an all Serb final. Would that be a first?

I guess I'd have picked Djere out of the hat, as his name comes up more. I'm going to root for one of the guys that have never one a title. Just because. Herbert or Berrettini...my new BFFs. LOL.

Where was that monkey head when you needed it, eh? hehe. I will say this. I don't give 2 figs about Cilic, and I think he's mostly a folder, one Major not withstanding. And while I like Cuevas, he's 33, so he's not going to change the world. But Coric, at barely 22, had this draw almost handed to him and he could get the job done. That bothers me. Still waiting for @herios to tell us why he doesn't like Coric, but this is a strike against his commitment, I'd say.

Actually Cuevas was never fast, never strong and never had much stamina (quite the contrary sometimes). He always relied on "la mano". So in this sense he may well play in to his fifties! Not that surprised he lost this match in the third, he was coming from a challenger he won last week, a three sets opening round and another three sets (5x7 7x6 7x6) against Cilic, so probably he played the end of that on a wheelchair.

By "la mano" you mean "touch," right? If Cuevas is that lame and plays in a wheelchair, then Cilic should be just that more ashamed! (I know you're kidding, but seriously, re: Cilic.) Who you got to win it?

Yes, precisely "touch". We have an expression in Portuguese for that, we say a player "tem muita mão" (has too much touch, roughly translating for the rest of our friends). Not quite sure if my Spanish speaking neighbors use "mano" in the same sense, but I guess I heard it once.

I was rooting heavily for Cuevas (as you know), but was quite sure Coric would win it. Now I think Djere is the slight favorite.

I rather love the English language version: that a player has "soft hands." Which means delicate touch. But I like it for its descriptiveness, and because it's a little bit sexy. :)

Krajinovic makes his first final on clay of his career. He backed up his win over Coric easily today.

He must have a turbo jet wheelchair, because he flew right away to Portugal to play today in qualification round in Estoril.
Insane.

That is something hard to understand, but... the guy knows what he is doing.

And Djere is out. Berretini x Krajnovic final.

Matteo Berrettini won a title on clay last year, can he back it up? Or will Krajinovic win his first title of his injury plagued career?

I’m rooting for the Serbian.

They’re currently on serve in the 1st, 3-4.

Berrettini with the win. He gets his second title if his career. Both on clay.
