Lucas is legit. He now gives us three younger players in the top 20, along with Thiem and Kyrgios. Hopefully Zverev and Fritz will join them next year.

Kieran, don't give up on Kyrgios yet. He's just young, dumb and full of...well, you know the quote. But yeah, he has such a terrible attitude and is just so unlikable. But the talent is real. While 2016 was a bit disappointing for him, he still won a couple titles and rose up the rankings.

I like Nick (sometimes) but it's just as easy to see him becoming another JJ...

I hear you, but he's already done a lot more - and all at a younger ages than Jerzy's faux-breakthrough in 2012-13. He also shows considerably more upside than Jerzy and is one of the few players on tour who has the offensive game to take down Andy or Novak.

The thing with Nick is, he's self-medicating when it comes to coaching. The kid has a screw loose - so far - and in this he's like JJ. No maturity, big ego, fragile mentally. I don't know who he'd listen to, but as you know, first he needs to accept he needs help.

I've long thought Sampras would be the perfect fit for Nick, because Pete would get him to cut the bull, and cut to the core. Jettison the unnecessary, and focus on what's needed. But I doubt Nick would even know who Pete Sampras is...

I said a few days ago during your sabbatical (Rafa has got to change something because it needs to be for the entire two weeks:snicker)

Nick has one severe mentality personality disorder . He will never win a slam.. He can't keep it together

It is sad by what you both say rings true. He'd really need to have an epiphany or rude awakening grow the f up.

Sampras is not coaching anybody. He does not want the grind of travelling through the circuit. He was even reluctant to travel to Wimby to give trophy to Fed when Fed overtook him. Only reason he went was that he did not want people to think he was bitter.

No, I agree with that, but of anybody I can think of who could get through to Nick, and bring the right formula, Pete's the one. He's the complete opposite to Nick, and he has pedigree. But yeah, Pete's not into that sort of thing, and he's too private a bloke anyway to get caught up in liddle Nicky's boyband circus...

Fritz needs to work on his movement. That is not so hard, basic athletic training, that is what Zverev did to pull himself up from 50-100 range to the top 30.
Zverev needs to work on his FH technique to make it more sound, because at the moment is a weakness and breaks more often when pressured.
Kyrgios has improved, but I am afraid there will be more problems with this guy and he will never achieve his true potential.
Too bad Thiem's second half of the season turns out this way, but an injury was imminent, after he overplayed the first half.
I learned from the commentaries that Pouille worked very hard the last year and it shows.
I am hoping to see more good stuff coming from him.

It's hypothetical, it's a dream, I know Pete's not going to travel, but if Nick was to have a mentor who he'd listen to, and pay attention to, a man of Sampras substance, character and achievements would be the one. Pete has often said he's not into this supercoach business...

Kieran, I totally get your point about Pete and Nick. However, the opposite can work too...like Andre coaching Nick. Why? Because he was a bit of a punk himself that wasted years on the tour before committing to the game and winning. Maybe he can help Nick skip some of those useless steps, no?
