Novak doing his part to advance the skills of his countrymen! Kecmanović took his place in the draw "down under" getting to the 4th Rd.! Now he's doing the same & maybe better at IW"s! Very impressive since I haven't a clue how he plays! I keep missing even a few pts of the guy hitting a ball!

Wow if true then I think Rafa might withdraw from tomorrow's match in order to rest before clay. That would suck because he has a great chance to win a 4th IW title!
But you know how he is, he will fight until the last ball, it won't be the first time and neither the last time

I'm sure he'll do what's right for his body, but I have a hard time imagining him dropping out tomorrow.

Interesting. Nadal can barely even win, according to you, without help from opponents, and yet you credit Novak from remote with "advancing the skills" his countryman, a guy you've barely even seen play. I think a monkey may be randomly typing into your computer while you're off in the men's room. That's how much sense it makes, anyway. (Don't worry, folks, he won't be insulted, Fiero has me on ignore.) :popcorn

I guess I have to wait for Swiatek to complete the route before TC will show Monfils/Alcaraz.

They switched over just in time for me to see that last point of the 1st set. Alcaraz 7-5.
Oops, so much for that. 3-0 Alcaraz in the 2nd, and now another American comes on court, Jason Brooksby. That's it for my seeing any more of Alcaraz and Monfils. :(

Good win for the youngster 61 in the 2nd....maybe you can get high lights of the match for the 2nd set

Norrie defending well so far! Not having too much trouble with "Courier-Clone" Brooksby! Not sure how "getting up" for matches will work in the long run? Psyching oneself up for just a match can be exhausting! Looks like Monfils used up all his skills to upset Medvedev! Alcaraz didn't have any problems with the old guy! :astonished-face: :fearful-face::face-with-tears-of-joy::yawningface:

Carlos Alcaraz in defeating Monfils 75 61 has become the youngest men's quarter finalist since 17 y/o Michael Chang in 1989
Juan Carlos Ferrero must thank the Tennis Gods for giving him Carlos to coach:)

Another string-bean from the past along with Korda Sr.! I think they used to call JC Ferrero, "The Mosquito!" :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :astonished-face::face-with-tears-of-joy::yawningface:

Yes they did The Mosquito....still a very good looking man:)
Indeed he is! And they didn't call him The Mosquito because he was a "string-bean." (You know who that's aimed at.) He says he likes working with Carlos also because he's very humble, a very good person, and that that is important to him. (I can't get the quote exactly, but it seemed a bit pointed towards Zverev, by contrast, with whom JC worked for one year, and of whom he has made other backhand remarks.)

Whoever tries to work with the No 3 player needs a medal as far as I am concerned.Lendl said he wasnt a good trainer and preferred to party more than work when he was coaching him
