Going to a t/break to decide the winner of Leylah and Shelby....which has been an absorbing battle in the 3rd set.

Shelby Rogers d Leylah Fernandez in a 'intense battle' especially in the final set 26 61 76(4)
I think the UFE cost Leylah in moments, her trademark she always goes down fighting....she will play in the doubles q/finals with Coco Gauff later.
Good win Shelby!

She also panicked a bit in the 3rd set. It's something how everything changes mentally when there's no expectation. She was under no expectation in NY. She actually thought pretty clearly in all those 3 set matches and TB's against higher ranked players. In this match, she was the higher ranked player and she just couldn't think clearly when the match got tight in the decider.

At this rate, I think the tournament championship is up for grabs to any of the remaining players. A really open draw considering who has made it this far!

Some might say this is really something for women's tennis and they're in good shape! IMO, they're literally "a mess" with the rankings all over the place, qualifiers making and winning a major, and literally no consistency when it comes to their top players! Serena put them in this spot a while ago coming & going! I was so hoping Osaka would take over, but she's been run off inexplicably due to social media pressures!  :anxious-face-with-sweat:

Please it is a part of every tennis player to attend press conferences full stop, Social Media Pressure My Foot....stop making excuses for her I am over it.
I am a fan of her tennis at present she would rather play the celebrity circuit than play tennis.Osaka must remember Tennis gave her these platforms,to attend Met Gala etc.
Ladies tennis to me is in good shape,I dont want the same players winning week after week like the ATP how boring,WTA has great depth.

Re-check projection regarding Ons Jabeur reaching the Top 10.Ons Jabeur will not reach the Top 10 if she loses her QF match to Kontaveit and one of the following happens,
Pegula or Kontaveit wins the title.Kerber reaches the s/finals.

I never got bored with Rafa, Fed and Novak..I enjoyed the way that they made various adjustments to their games against all of their opponents.

Well Roger and Rafa are on their way out,Novak probably will be playing for another couple of years, the ATP does have depth it is about time they showed it and be more consistent in tournaments. This is a WTA site lets stick to the women players.

After Indian Wells Kenin and Swiatek will leave the Top 10 creating room for Jabeur to (likely) make her debut.Kerber,Kontaveit and Pegula are all in with a shot at making the Top 10 too.
