Vika breaks showing great anticipation on court and return of serve

I think it is fitting this 1st set will be decider on a t/break.....both players have had BPS but could not really consolidate their leads in the match

Nice finish! Azarenka was gassed; hence that UFE to get to MP! That was a grueling MP and I guessed if moved off-court, any CC w/b a winner! :good:
So far the whole match has been long and grueling for both players.,Vika has great defense,it has been hard for Paula to get a winner or pass her.

Azarenka 2nd set 62....she was more aggressive in the 2nd set she has to keep this level up and again her 1st serve is vital

Going to a decider ( hopefully I can stay awake)

I'm traveling and only watching scores, but now the momentum seems to have gone back to Badosa? Is it a good match? It seems like it ought to be.

Just finished watching the last set of the final ( I could not keep my eyes open after night shift)

A hell of a match, probably one of the best WTA finals this year!

Vika served for the match,Paula found a way to defeat the 2 time champion 76 (5) 26 76 (2) in a three hour thriller.

Paula Badosa on debut, becomes the first Spainish woman to win the IW singles title.Paul defeated 4 Top 20 players in a row on route to the final, defeated 2 time champion Azarenka.Paula is projected after this win to rise to No 13 in the new rankings.

Well done to Victoria, even though she blinked when serving for the match, made Paula work hard for the win on every point.

Thank you ladies for a thrilling match!
