Why so many :cry ?
Koukalova is doing that from time to time when she loses or is on the road to lose and her game was not good enough against a very well playing opponent.
The Bencic vs Cornet match was frustrating for Bencic as she first seemed to own the match winning the first set 61 but she hadn't calculated with a better and better playing Cornet and set 2 and 3 were long rallies where they both fought getting their breath again which caused time violation for Bencic - pictures are from that situation. And when everybody are waiting for the big young hope in tennis to finish the match with a victory and you lose - well she's still a teenager, so come again. She still has her first victory on the wTA circuit 2015 in front of her - not a good start of 2015 me thinks:nono

Pliskova gets the second match court 1, no court favors for the #8 seeded Czech.
I don't think she will see much resistance until she gets Lucie in the quarters, that's if Lucie makes it there.

I am surprised Wickmayer went out so early, she was the local favorite.

Kerber's loss means that Petkovic will be the No.1 German player, could also make the Top Ten.

Well, well both the No 1 and the No 2 seeds were defeated today

Cant say I was shocked by both results

Interesting q/final between the 2 Czech players Safarova and Pliskova

Dont forget Cibulkova either.

Sumyk's first task...Get Genie to take week by week tournaments as seriously as she takes slams. It's such a weird issue to have these days as it seems every top player of recent years has had the opposite problem. Safina, Jankovic and to some extent Woz would show up week by week winning tons of tournaments and then at grand slam big moments totally fold.

I think Kerber plays too much tennis. It seems as if she is in almost every tournament. I know during her matches she runs much trying to retrieve as many shots as possible. I would like to see her take off a little more and give her body a chance to recover.

I don't think it is the fact that Genie does not take these smaller tournaments as seriously as the slams, she did win her first WTA title in Nurnberg last year, it is now the massive expectations on her shoulders from all her triumphs from 2014. This has got to be churning in her mind, a young mind at that, not only does she need to correct some issues in her physical game, but the mental game is daunting too. The next couple of months could be the most critical for her and will likely determine how she handles the pressure for the remainder of the year.:puzzled

Early days yet for the new partnership of Bouchard and Sam
Though one thing I will say is that while Vera and Vika were good in the technical department,I believe Sam brought a new confidence and calmness to their games.

Bouchard appears to be to be a confident young woman, she is still young and learning, she could not have a better coach technical wise and menality wise coach than Sam.

Wow. Fran is a joy to watch. Such variety you don't see often in today's baseline game.

Those grunts though. She sounds more manly than Murray.
