I watched some of Del Potro's match today. He's hitting the two-hander more regularly, and reverting to BH slice when it's appropriate, from what I saw. That seems good news.

Tomorrow Goffin v. Zverev seems an interesting match-up of sizes and styles.

Monfils is officially injured. French newspapers said that this was more a 'diplomatic' injury, not to go in Munich where the weather was so bad, very cold and instead focus on Madrid where there are more points to win.
Pouille did the same choice, skipping Istanbul, to focus on Madrid after his good run in Bucharest.

Probably a good idea. DelPotro today had full sleeves and leggings. It looked pretty cold.

Thanks Bert. I just noticed it today when I checked my draws and noticed that that whole side from the beginning was in red.

Well at least Canadians are not the only ones suffering with cold.;-):

I saw a pic of F3 and he looked dressed up very warmly on the court. Sort of like I always do.:lulz1:

Battle of the youngsters. You have to favor Thiem, for his chops on clay. But Zverev is more than a big serve, and he has a big wingspan. He won't be easy to pass. Very interesting.

What I watched of Kohly v. DelPo today, the German was very "on." I don't think Del Potro was bad, especially. As usual, it will depend on which Fognini shows up, I guess.

Yeah, really looking forward to this one. I like both players and think they (and possibly Kyrgios) will head the Nextgen bunch. These can all be Top 5 players and possibly future #1. I think these two guys have more discipline than Kyrgios.

Agree, Thiem will be favourite going in, particularly on this surface... but have you seen his net game? Very impressive - he's being talked about as the next big star of the clay courts but I think he'll be a big factor on all surfaces.

I like the coinage of "Nextgen." Good point that Thiem is not afraid of the net, for one who likes the clay. I absolutely agree that he has all-court potential. In this match-up, it will be fun to watch two that could potentially have a rivalry. I think Thiem is more disciplined at this point, but Zverev is ambitious. I'd take Thiem in 3.
