The last clay court event of the year. Marcel Granollers is defending champion having recovered from a 0-6 first set to beat Juan Monaco in last year's final.

Seeds:
1. Kohlschreiber
2. Granollers
3. Rosol
4. Seppi
5. Thiem
6. Haase
7. Nieminen
8. Carreno Busta

Wildcards:
David Goffin, Gerald Melzer, Alexander Zverev

A couple of decent first round ties see Gstaad champion Andujar take on Jurgen Melzer and 17 year old Zverev vs 21 year old Schwartzman

Alexander Zverev was perhaps too hungry today. Schwatzman served him a full set of bekry: 6-1, 6-0 for the young argentine.

RE: 2014 Kitzbuhel

A few points of interest today: Andujar continued his winning ways (after title in Gstaad,) beating Melzer in straights. Monaco, who was in that Gstaad final, too, beat Golubev, but by the oddest score: 0-6, 6-2, 6-1. (What was that about?) And young Zverev lost to the also-young (21) Argentine, Diego Schwartzmann, 6-1, 6-0. Growing pains, I guess.

Interesting ties tomorrow:

Kohli vs Goffin
Thiem vs Vesely - two young guns that we may have forgotten about in the midst of all this teen excitement ;)
Nieminen vs Monaco - Can Juan follow up last week's run and take out a seed?
Schwartzman vs Granollers - I liked what I saw from Schwartzman against Federer at RG

Looks like a very late start in Kitzbuhel today (rain?), was looking forward to Kohli and Thiem/Vesaly, hope they get everything in today.

At least they have gotten some play in today. But a number of players (Thiem and Granollers among them) are scheduled to play two matches to get the schedule on track again.

Kohli is terrible this year. He lost again. He is no 1 seed here and does not even make
the QF.

RE: 2014 Kitzbuhel

Thiem won the battle of the players born in 1993. (Vesely 21, Thiem still 20.) He won the first but lost his first service game in the second, but managed to salvage the match in straights.
