Interesting observation:

In an interview with the Mail On Sunday Murray said: 'I have played against players and thought, 'They don't seem to be getting tired.' Have I ever been suspicious of someone? Yeah. You hear things.'

But Becker doesn't hear a thing from his reaction... which as you mentioned seemed "sensitive".

Any ideas who Andy meant? Can't remember which players have out lasted him. Part of the problem with his style of play which is reactive is that he ends up running far more than he ought to. Monfils is like that as well. So many chances yesterday to pull the trigger instead he opted for the rally shot

becker really needs to stop jerking off to djokovic so bloody much.

it is so obvious and it looks petty.

it sounds like a desperate man trying to hold on to his job with the djokovic camp.

becker is the same idiot that accused Thomas Muster of doping.

he accused of him of using steroids.

He did mention players who play for 5, 6 hours and we all know of two who can play that long more often than the other players, so he did accuse those two indirectly.
Yep. And he had just played one of them the day before, losing in the third. What surprises me is the no knee jerk reaction from Nadal camp (in fact, smart on their part, as Becker was a bit naive to say the least), and, specially, from part of his followers. What does not surprises me is Murray sounding bitter...

Becker's timing with his comments that the sport is clean is ironic considering Maria Sharapova's recent admission.

Muttering Murray. He sounds like the bitter guy who isn't willing to own where he's at fault for his inability to win. Sniping comments won't get him the trophies.

Becker has made a career of shooting off his mouth without ever engaging his brain. Team Djokovic has had to do "clean up" more than once during his tenure as coach.

EG, you, like Becker, are assuming that Murray is only talking about one of the other top guys. He didn't say that. Also, the ones that get done for doping are usually the lower ranked ones who need a bit of help where they don't have the talent. (Tbh, all the articles I have read, most people remarking in the comments assume the same. It's as if there are only 4 players in men's tennis.)

My impression is that Nadal's PR, Barbadilo or something like that, is million times smarter than No1e's Italian PR and another xillion times smarter than Becker.

As for No1e, seems he is not very clever neither because every time they ask him a question he is not prepared to answer they abuse his answer, making huge deal out of nothing, yet he hasn't learned to avoid replying.

In 1992, a striker who won golden shoe then ( and runner up for golden ball) Darko Pancev played for Red Star that year when they became European and World Champions. They interviewed him in one of the squares in Belgrade and last question was what was the last book you read. Darko looked left, looked right, then smiled and said "I am a football player, I don't read books." That is about what No1e should say in his replies on questions about equality, doping and whatever stupid questions they can ask him "I am a tennis player and I don't read books. If you don't have anything more appropriate to ask me, we should go to the questions in Serbian."

Mastoor, I agree with you that Novak should learn he doesn't have to answer every question he's asked, and he should stop taking the bait on the controversial ones. He needs to subscribe to the time-tested tradition of athletes making bland, uninteresting responses to all questions. And his team needs to muzzle Becker. What the heck was he thinking with this one?

As for Rafa and his team, I don't see why they would even think to respond. Murray is pretty friendly with Rafa, so it wouldn't occur to them that he was referring to Nadal. Plus, his current position is, if you accuse him directly, he'll sue you. Very clear.

As to those here who think Murray is just bitter, two things: I'll say again, nothing says he's indicating the others of the big 3; and it's funny that so many people tell me I'm naive when I say I think that tennis is mostly clean, and yet, when Andy calls out that he has his doubts, he's dismissed as angry and bitter. Which is it?

I was actually under the impression that Novak and Andy are quite friendly as well. Am I wrong?

I think it is clear Murray is indirectly talking about other top players who are better than him. He is or at least has been friendly with both Rafa and Nole in the past but who knows...maybe he got caught in the moment. It DOES come off as bitter but at the same time he may have always had these thoughts regardless of how he was doing against the other top players. I doubt he is referring to lower rated guys that beat/outlast him on rare occasions.

And I think you are naive about drugs in the sport. The ATP governing body is a joke, basically any good player can do PED's and not have to worry about it. I will give you a hypothetical to answer involving Roger. Say he got busted doing PED's (again hypothetically!!!) do you think given what we've seen/heard the past few years about tennis (Agassi meth, Cilic silent ban, recent possible match fixing that was brushed aside, the Carlos Bernandes Saga with Rafa) that there is any chance in hell that the ATP would disclose that? I say no way. What would happen in this hypothetical is that he would miss some time with an "injury" or possibly retire suddenly. It is the same with all of the top 5, hell probably all the top 10. I truly believe they have full immunity to do whatever the F they want at this point. For the ATP it is simply about money over integrity.

Given that, Nole's comments are pretty stupid especially in light of the Sharapova failed test. Maybe since he is dominant #1 he simply does not care if a bunch of players are juicing, he's winning anyways. But he comes off sounding naive and naturally some people will see it as suspicious.

Certainly I'm not as naive about it as I used to be, and I know all about your above. You certainly think Nadal is guilty, since you make snide insinuations all the time. But you don't really ever mention anyone else that way. You'd be clutching your pearls if I dared imply the same of Roger, I reckon. So you are only selectively skeptical, which is then also partially naive.

^ I have rarely if ever made snide insinuations about it. But truth is, yeah I would be shocked beyond belief if it turned out he's been clean all along. I know you fans see a choir boy but I see a ton of smoke. The sad state of sports today is that drug tests can only prove your guilt, not your innocence. That goes for every athlete by the way. All the top athletes, even ones that seem least suspicious, it's never been proven that they don't/never have used PED's. Sounds crazy but it's true because doping methods are far ahead of the testing. Add that to what I said about the ATP above and yes I have my doubts about the game as a whole being remotely clean. I will admit that but I pretty much never bring that up or even imply it because it ruins decent conversation and gets everyone's blood going.

And I know you'll see that as me being just a "bitter Federer fan" who just sees what he wants to see. All I will say is...you may also notice how much I dislike Ferrer and he's been one of Roger's greatest clients over the years (read between the lines, it isn't all about style of play with me). Certainly players like Tsonga and Berdych have been much bigger thorns in Roger's side and I don't mind them at all.

"Rarely if ever made snide insinuations"? On The Fall of RN thread you posted this yesterday: "I'm not surprised in the least that Rafa's physicality seems to be returning. It seems like it was a productive trip to the doctor after Miami." I'm not conflating you with Front, who loves to accuse Rafa, and hates him like almost no one (except Cali,) but you can't really sell me on the idea that it's a coincidence that you and many of the rest of the Feddies loathe Nadal in a deep, dark way. So you're inclined to believe "smoke" that you read on the internet, as I'm inclined to see it for just that. Seriously...plenty of people throw all kinds of stuff around, but it's unsubstantiated and circumstantial. (There are plenty of things to tell you that 9/11 was a government plot, too, and no plane ever hit the Pentagon.) The only sports medicine MD I know says that the indicator of PEDs is a spike in performance. So when would Rafa have started using them then, when he was 7? I've asked Front several times when he thought Rafa would have started using them, and he never answers. Many want to go back to Operación Puerta, but that wouldn't make sense, as Nadal was a prodigy. The last couple of years would make more logical sense, but it makes bunk out of all those internet theories dating back a decade. You'd be shocked if he was clean all along, you say, but what about Roger? You're always saying that he was a late-bloomer. What put the bloom on that rose? And how is he still fresh as a daisy at 34+? Or Djokovic, with his jump in fitness and form?

Not to derail any conversation, but this one's about doping in men's tennis.

Yes, I suppose I should have left the "if ever" part out of that. We can go back and forth on this all day long and no, I don't form an opinion based on what I read on internet message boards and I'm not sure how 9/11 ever got into this conversation. It's not like I'm talking about a huge conspiracy theory here though I will admit that the 2012 sudden injury followed by the 2013 AO withdrawal from a tummy ache, followed by him returning to dominant form right away after the major knee injury was all suspicious in my book. The Fuentes case broke out after Rafa had skyrocketed up the ranks in 2005. I'm not saying Rafa moving up the ranks in 2005 is reason to be suspicious but let's not pretend Rafa had been top 2 in the world for 5 years before that case broke out.

I already know how this works, I'm not changing your mind and you aren't changing mine. My opinion about Rafa was formed well before 2008 for what it's worth and you may have noticed my "venom" towards the sweetheart is a little worse after 2012. I will just leave it at that.
