Becker is no more and that probably means No1e chose "Amore y Paz" over him. I hope at least Vajda will stay in the team, though as far as I know Vajda was also opposed to the "guru" in the team so he will be choosing to be left out after this more than likely.

I guess this means we can expect zero tennis achievements from Nole in 2017.

Get Lendl and he'll do really well, that will put Murray back to crybaby for a starter.

expected, when a player's got problem, the coach is the one to blame....nothing new in player's reaction

maybe not to blame, but to make a different choice as he needs to decide whats best for himself. Becker has been fantastic as results have shown, but they all have expiry dates. Like Edberg was good for Fed and Lendl for Murray, there are 'amicable' departures.....i don't think Novak would've just told Becker to piss off, just he felt that he wants to move on.

Different story with Todd Martin though, he just had to go :lol3:

Ricardo is right, I can't say that often. Nole doesn't blame Becker (it is actually the other way around), they just have different plans. Becker wanted No1e to be dedicated to tennis and to continue winning as much as he can. Novak doesn't want that anymore, so they split.

I've got a feeling they'll get back together a couple of years down the line... a bit like Murray did with Lendl.

According to l'Equipe, Becker said Nole needed to work hard, something he didn't do in the second part of 2016...less practice = bad results....logical indeed !!

Overall I think this is a good thing. I certainly recognize the success achieved with Becker but it's come at a price. Becker has frequently made statements that have caused Nole embarrassment - eg remarks about In match coaching signals and the latest about not working hard. I liked Becker when he was a young player but I don't like his behaviour ever since. He lacks discretion and sensitivity and comes across as an arrogant bully. Nole is no fool, he has clearly been exhausted and has had injuries. If he feels he needs to take it easier he is right to do so. Becker is a barely walking orthopaedic case book - Nole does not want to go the same way. I would like to see him with a new coach and there are several he might consider, Goran, Moya, Gilbert come to mind. Edberg possibly. But if he decides to stay with the current team for a while I would say he knows what he is doing. He has never been afraid of work but right now he needs to regain energy and fitness and mental strength again. Being bullied by Becker won't help with that. If he decides to give less to tennis and seek a different balance in his life so be it. He has given so much pleasure to so many and achieved so much we could not begrudge him that.

Becker is who he is, a little too outspoken at times. Some of the things he has said probably hasn't done Novak any favors. But you can't deny the results Nole had with him. Nole didn't have much to improve on when Becker came aboard but I think he's had a positive impact on Nole's serve and net game and most importantly Novak has done well in the big matches. If he's saying Novak wasn't working hard enough then it is probably true and getting it out in the open is Becker's way of trying to light a fire under him.

I totally agree he got results but everything runs it's course. Sounds like Becker's sour grapes I think! And he wants another job of course!

Darren Cahill seems Nole's new coach according to a Serbian site.

Interesting. Does that mean he's no longer coaching Halep?

"Novak and Boris got enough from each other. Together they made a lot, but the only right thing now is for Nole to continue with only one coach and Vajda is the only choice. I don't see anyone who could help him more. Vajda is with him for 10 years, socialising, coaching him, he knows all his strengths and weaknesses, what he likes and what he doesn't. Those two are unbeatable team, winning team" - says for Blic Nik Pilic.

@Mary several months ago No1e said he started hating all those stories about tennis history and we all know how much Becker liked to talk about it, so that was the first indication No1e will get rid of him. I only hope Pepe Imaz was there only to chase Becker off and not for any other reason.

Agree with you about Vajda, they have a great history and Vajda is loyal. But I thought he didnt want to travel as much. I don't know much about Cahill, seems quieter and steadier than Becker perhaps. Imaz I haven't a clue what that is about but can see why it finished Becker. Not his style at all!
