Too bad Monfils and Gasquet didn't sign up after both pulled out of last year's event. Atlanta has one of the largest tennis communities in the USA and extremely loyal fans although for the others team sports the city is a very transient city meaning the city is comprised of fans from all the major metropolitan areas. Atlanta tennis deserves better.

There are 28 players in the draw. 12 of them are from US and 1 from Canada. The North Americans missed the majority vote by just two.

No, he is not doing a Hingis. Hingis wanted to actually actively play in doubles. Andy is just helping his friend retire with good memories for old time sake. Don't expect Andy to be in the doubles circuit after USO is over.

Hope Mardy Fish does well in singles here. By well, I mean winning at least one match.

Kudla just beat Harrison
I am so happy to see this, because the organizers gave Harrison a WC and Kudla had to come through qualifications.
Someone at USTA has to really love Harrison, because he simply does not deserve all that help, while Kudla was the top performer at Wimbledon among the Americans, he should have deserved it much more.

It is probably due to the fact that he cannot play. Has to be frustrating, no?

Tell me about that :D

Great win for Go Soeda! He just upset Mannarino in straight sets! Mannarino has been playing well lately so surprised to see Soeda win so easily.

Roddick and Fish win their 1st round doubles match. They beat Lu/Marray 7-6(2), 6-4. Great to see! They face the third seeds Butorac/Sitak!

Sock trails 3-5 in the second. He has had several chances to break back in this set but has missed them all. Not complaining about something to the umpire. Now down 0-40. Triple MP.

And Kudla takes it. That was weak by Sock.
