Well done to Ons Jabeur defeating Wang 76(4) 61.....she is a great shot maker and deserves to be in the q/final for the 1st time just like her opponent Sofia Kenin.

Ash serving for the 1st set 5-3,she has used her sliced bhand to perfection against Riske.she broke Riske early and then Riske broke back.Barty regrouped,her first serve has been good,giving her free points,it has been a tricky 1st set she wins 6-3

Windy conditions on RLA,Barty needs to adjust her game accordingly,she has not,Riske gets the early break and consolidates leads 3-0 2nd set

Okay the remaining ladies matches to qualify for the q/finals,

S.Halep v Elise Mertens,Halep has had wins on clay in 2018 twice against Elise,their most recent meeting was last year in Doha,Elise won.Halep to win.

Impressed with Muguruza's win over Svitolina,if she can display the same tennis against Kiki,she can win.

Kerber to win against Pavlyuchenova,I cannot see Pavs striking twice.

Kontaveit was soo impressive with her routing of the 'Swiss Miss',I feel she will be too strong for Swiatek.

Halep just broke with a good passing shot FH down the line and will serve for the 1st set 5-4....tight first set.

Halep consolidates the break and leads 2-0
6 games in a row for Halep,Mertens does not have any answers,she could try more variety for starters.

Out of nowhere Elise holds to love....Halep 3-2

There you go Elise showing variety and returning Halep's 2nd serve well breaks,4 all 2nd set
Elise volley skills coming forward are winning points.Excellent doubles player

Kontaveit was serving for the 1st set 6-5 and was broken by Swiatek.
Swiatek won the t/break 76(4)....these two have played once before with Kontaveit winning in straight sets
Kontaveit has a battle on her hands,Swiatek is not going away in this match
Kontaveit wins the 2nd set 75....still a close match between these two.Going to a decider.
Kontaveit was serving for the match 5-1,got broken,Swiatek held serve 5-2.

I cant believe Kontaveit lose control of the final set she was in control
Back on serve,kudos to Swiatek she has fought hard to get back in this match

Congratulations to Swiatek she can hold her head high she really took her game to Kontaviet and nearly caused a upset,hopefully she can build on this impressive run at the AO making the 4th rd.Well Done!
