I figured he'd win but not that easy and definitely didn't think he'd play this well. Definite positive to take but the next one is still the most telling one.

GSM Roger. That match with Murray is a real blockbuster.

Whoever wins will take a lot from it, and the loser will leave disappointed at having missed the opportunity.

I don't about Murray, though. To me it seems that he has already accomplished what he wants out of his career: winning a couple of Slams including Wimbledon. Everything else is just a bonus.

No way Federer-Murray will not be the night match. Channel 7 in Australia would want it in primetime. And local TV always has the last say.

You meant day and mistyped?

feds getting thru his serves so fast..that Tsonga feels like he is serving all the time.

Fed got through some of his service games faster than the time Nadal takes in between
points.

41 winners and 19 UE for Roger. That's incredible.

What is even more incredible is 43 forays into net with 34 paying off.

Federer has now started a new quarterfinal streak. Start your counter guys.

What I liked most today was Fed played a clean game from the beginning to
the end without any let-up and hick ups. I liked that more than the mere fact
that he won.

His service games have certainly gone back to vintage level. Hope he can keep
it up that way.

However, as already some other posters alluded, he will be passed more often
by other members of big four if he comes forward recklessly.

Impressive , for sure...I think i counted only two shanks, and one was debatable. More impressive was that I don't think Roger had a great first serve today. Second was aggressive though, and got him some free points.
The volley was awesome, that's all I can say. Good job overall.

7 out of 8 top seeds made it to the quarters. Is that a record for a Slam? I know at the Canada masters all top 8 seeds made it once.

The whole first week was pointless. Maybe they should change the format. Qualifying lasts two weeks and the top 8 of qualifying get to play the top 8 ranked in the world.

Where the hell did this come from?a web page or something?

We all know Andy had a back Op but he will still be after winning Slams.Come Wimbledon Murray just might be the fav 2 win it again.Murray will win more Slams if all is well after his back Op.Ho & don't forget he beat Nole in straight sets in Wimbledon Final.

Easy. I am referring to him caring about a loss or not. Not about him not being able to win a Slam. There was a huge monkey on his back for not being able to win a Slam and there was enormous expectation for Wimbledon. I think he is much more 'care free' and 'nothing to prove' in that respect. I am not saying he is not going to win any more Slams. Roger is clearly under pressure to demonstrate that he still has the goods.

For the record, I hope Murray ticker remains at two for the rest of his career. Nasty on court attitude.

Because he yells at his camp? I can think of a worse offense.

The things that looked incredibly impressive from Federer today were his movement (especially to his forehand side), his return of serve, and his backhand. Also, he only had a couple of "bad" misses and seemed to play the right shot on most points. To see him play this well against a dangerous top-ten guy is really encouraging.

Still, Federer looked great during some matches at Brisbane and then laid a massive egg against Lleyton so I'm not convinced he can carry this form over to his next matches, especially if he makes it to a semifinal against Rafa.

Fitting end. That was an incredible performance. Oh and:

"I actually think if he wins, it will be easier than most think."

I was right (shameless self praise).

Good call!

Hey, everyone his preference. I don't like the guy because the negativity, swearing etc on court, which he does not compensate, for me personally, with anything else. It seems that the guy is perpetually in negativity mode.

He deserves credit for his accomplishments, but that doesn't mean I have to root for the guy.

Add the serve, and you've got 90% of his game ;)

Let's see indeed if he can keep it up. He'll get more opportunities to shank against Murray who is much more of a defender and will put more balls back in play. If that happens, that might affect his confidence etc.

Nadal will cruise through this in three routine sets and then get Grigor, which might go four sets if that. Rafa is a shooin for the semifinals.

I think Nadal will face Agut. Dimitrov is overrated and Agut has grit and a big heart. I was impressed with how he handled Del Potro.

Incorrect assessment.
