i thought this board moved to another site..did that not happen

There is another site and some of the old guard moved over there, or some are signed up and active in both like me, for example.
But, not a whole lot is going on there other than Clay Death (aka Samson) ranting non stop about Rafa's lack of will and preparation going on these days.
Or other obnoxious posters like Mike One makes appearances sometime.

Let us put the 100 UFE in perspective. Considering 4 consecutive points makes up a game, if these 100 UFE occurred continuously, that would be a like 25 games donated. Considering 6 consecutive games wins a set, if these 25 games occurred continuously, that would be like donating 4 sets and a game. But, they would have stopped the match after three sets.

Even if you assume that Novak made no errors on his own serve and all of these errors occurred on Simon's serve, it is still mind boggling.

If Novak makes half as many errors, Roger would finish him off.

May be Roger should counterpunch against Novak, instead of playing aggressively! :lolz:

Interesting specimen, this Simon. Too bad he completely ran out of gas in the fifth set. This wasn't unexpected though, since he covered about a kilometer more than him, and had to work a lot harder in his service games. The guy doesn't have a canon in his hand, but with a clear gameplan, and playing to his strengths he pushed Novak very, very hard. I wish more players had at least half of the belief, spirit and the clarity of thought that Gillou has. I like him.

He's played him tough before but same thing happened. He ran out of gas. Some mad long rallies at Wimbledon too and he had a lot more mileage than Novak from the rounds before and it made the difference. I went to bed at 7:30am here and missed the end but read he was up 40-0 on his own serve in set 5 only to lose serve and fall behind 4-1. He did that too often earlier as well, struggled on his own service games a bit much. I doubt Novak is looking forward to playing him again anytime soon. In best of 3 where you expend less energy he could take him in a masters event for sure.

I remember that Simon took out Roger in 2008 in Canada. Roger won the first set and Simon was pushing is so routinely lulling Fed into sleep, when he woke up Fed realizes that he has lost the second set. Then Simon won the third also to win the match.

Yup. That's all it takes. He could upset any of the top guys when he plays well.

Simon won a total of 174 points. He got more than half of it due to UFE by Novak.
Here is the distribution.

Unforced errors by Novak ------- 100
Forced errors by Novak ------ 42
Winners by Simon ------ 32

My bedtime is only after Novak is upset. :devil

Guess you'll be awake for another day or so. :snicker

I don't mind going sleepless for a couple of day, but I surely cannot remain awake the whole year.

if Kei can take Novak to 5 sets, even if he does not eventually win, he would soften up Novak so that it makes easy for Rog to beat him this time.

These days! While Novak's dominance is admittedly boring for those who are not huge fans, the slams have largely been contested by 5 guys for the last five years. I think the biggest difference now, is anybody winning but Novak is a huge upset...

Yes, although I would include the last five years or so, but the thing is that it has narrowed to just "one and a bunch of other guys" - not unlike 2004-07, really. 2008-14 at least had a rotating rulership of Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic, with a few contenders now and then.

While I've always liked Roger, I was a pretty casual fan during his "Reign of Terror" and didn't get really serious until maybe four or five years ago. But regardless, I think the sport is more enjoyable when there are several contenders for big titles. Actually, this gives me a thread idea...

Today I read ion twitter that Gilles Simon mentioned, the whole locker room will be behind him in the match with Nole.:eyepop
Is this indeed the sentiment there, or was he just joking?
Either way, he will need more than just their support to take down Nole.
Interestingly enough they asked Nole about this in his post-match presser and he laughed it off by saying Simon didn't specify which locker room because he thinks he's pretty well-liked in the women's locker room....:clap
I like how Nole doesn't take himself so seriously.

That was good! Simon, with all his arguments against women getting equal pay, probably has NO fans in the ladies lockerroom. :snicker

He's 100% right though even if the women are too blind to see the reality. Why the hell should a double bagel against a nobody receive the same payout as a match nearly 5 hours long? It's criminal.

As big Nole's fan, this is the most desperate win I ever watched.

Please don't overstate Nole 100 ufe, as if he nearly handed the match to Simon. Simon played and moved so well that Nole had to pull the trigger, or tried the dropshot. He played in a dilemma. He didn't feel the ball well and Simon could get everything back. If he played safe, he didn't up hand in war of attrition and Simon hit clean winner sometimes.
