Brave tennis from Ivanovic throughout. Serena was far from her best, but kudos to Ivanovic for hanging tough and taking the big scalp.

hahahahaah after all the talks of Maria not making it to the later rounds..lol it was serena who bombs out...

Be careful not to taunt. Maria hasn't made it out of the 4th round either yet.

1) Ana can give some bother to the best player of all times. When Ana clicks, "you never know"... my instinct smells something about this match, maybe a Serena mental fatigue? hard to tell. Serena is my best of all times anyway. Serena wins a tougher match than what was expected.

It was much much tougher than expected for Serena..
No one predicted that except me and Ana's family I guess. I am amazed at my tennis nose. My nose knows everything..

I was spot on about 3 0f the 3 matches in my prediction. Not just the result but the way the matches went on. Easy win to Li, hard win for Flavia, and Serena in bother.

My next prediction is:
A First Canadian in the Semis of a grand slam v Li Na ! :)

p.s. - Apologies for the showing off

Sweetheart. Laughing about it when your player hasn't gone any further yet is taunting.

Excellent tennis by Ana. I was engrossed watching it, I did not even come to this forum.
Ana deserves full credit, especially by the way she fought even after losing the first set.
Even though she lost the first set, she played really well in the first set also.

Normally, after playing so well and losing the first set, it is easy to get discouraged.
But, she hung in there and stuck to her game plan.

Now, I think Li Na will probably take the trophy. Let us see. At any rate it opens
up the filed and everybody will be fighting for the trophy. That is exactly what we
need to keep the WTA interesting.

I was expecting the mental fall of Serena. She is only human not a robot. This time I was spot on about the timing. Ana learned something from Simona when she lost to her in Sofia ;)

Still, Serena is the best of all times and nothing will change my mind about that.

I've been hearing and reading so much about top players after 30+; seems to be coming true! It's getting harder for Serena! People need to get off the "invincible" crap! She looked very ordinary! I wouldn't have picked Ana, but Serena wasn't moving her feet! It was truly telling with all those UFE; esp. on the backhand! :nono

No one thinks she's invincible. She did lose 4 matches last year and one today. But you have to give her credit for what she has done in her 30's. She's won the most majors of any 30+ player.

Serena was on a "Licsiki" mood today. No mental energy left. Just human. Her legs didn't move because her brain was not in the match. Its called "mental fatigue" and its to be expected after so many wins and a total domination of women tennis. The lose was waiting somewhere around the corner. She will come back if she still likes to play. Its all about her passion for the game. If she has it then she will be the best again.

She did look a little ordinary today, or certainly, 'vincible.' Off-day. But if you think she hasn't been mostly looking invincible for the last year +, you haven't been paying attention.

I don't watch much ladies' tennis with all the ball bashing and grunting! It's just ugly tennis at times; esp. with Aza and Sharapova! The volume definitely needs to be lowered when they're on court playing! It's ugly tennis at its worst! :nono

If you don't watch, then don't feel so competent to complain that there's a notion about Serena being invincible.

Silly person; I can still listen to the commentary and they are talking about her being the best ever! Are you deaf? Even Chris and Martina have been jumping on the bandwagon; succumbing to the fact that Serena will surpass their 18 majors this year or next! :nono

You don't know what you are missing :D
I find men's tennis boring (robotic), and lacking in emotions and full commitment.

They're hard to watch as well, but at least I can tolerate Nole! I'll miss Federer when he's gone! There are a few I can follow and appreciate their abilities, but most of the top players are unwatchable; esp. Nadal, Berdych, and Ferrer! Again, I find it "ugly," unimaginative, and graceless tennis! :nono :cry

"fair enough".. I got you now. Just chill and, you will enjoy women tennis more than men's tennis, its a promise :)
Women tennis is much more technical and thoughtful and suits you more.
