Jesus, the commentators keep saying "it's the right play" after a failed chip and charge by Fed.

That short slice was vintage. Hasn't used that play consistently in years.

McEnroe is always surprised to see a player lose a point when they approach the net. He doesn't even like to concede the possibility that players actually play those points to draw the player in, b/c they know its a high percentage play to pass.

Absolutely pathetic, simple as that. He lost that one mentally throughout.

Wow, that was an unbelievable passing shot. Poor tie break from Federer otherwise, though. When a match is that close, a few points here and there (even when they don't seem decisive) are crucial. So poor decision making at 30-30 on Seppi's serve, a bad error at 15-30, or something like that can be so costly. The chip and charge might be an Edberg thing, but it's just awful. To continue to do it in key moments is bad decision making, which is the most frustrating thing. If a shot doesn't go in, that's fine. Execution is one thing. But when you actively make the wrong decision over and over, you deserve what's coming to you. Fed was up 3-1 in the tie-break and had a look at a second serve, and went for the chip and charge again for some reason, instead of engaging in a rally and testing Seppi's nerves. Disappointing from someone with so much experience in these situations.

Regardless, in many of these losses, it is Fed's return game that gets exposed the most. When you can't get break points on Seppi's serve, it's a problem.

He played a beautiful breaker. He won those points, and played the baseline very tight despite being put in really hard positions by Roger.

Overall I thought he deserved it more. Just a little higher level throughout.

Well, Roger's done until Wimbledon, all about gearing up for that after this new low. That's why I almost jump out of my chair when I hear/read about Roger aging well...
