Just a bad day at the office for Roger, this happens to all players, regardless of their ranking.
Anyway I am soo proud of my fellow country man Seppi he played great and held his nerve.

Nah, Forza KYRGIOS LOL.

BTW While I wanted Federer to win the AO, I'm very impressed to see Seppi do very well and this win will give Italian Tennis a big profile. I am also very impressed with your english and on a lot of your posts, my Friend.

^ If Seppi can channel my Tommy Robredo who defeated Nick...I feel he is in with a chance
Sad to see my Tommy Robredo out of the AO by the way.

grrr...this is the first time it happened, but I cried last night after Federer lost, may be in my heart I know this is going to be a routine occurrence now. I saw the match and the way Fed was shanking.. I mean really.. whoever says Roger's age is not showing in his tennis is...

Usually those players with such inspirited day they lose the next match, we have seen it many times, on the contrary they would be one of the Top players and they don't

Don't throw dirt on the old man yet, let's see how Wimbledon and USO play out. I have no expectation that he will be as consistent as he was last year but that doesn't mean he won't have a better year as all it takes to make that happen is taking care of business at a slam.

Unfortunately players and their fans like to put Federer and Nadal on an unforgivably high pedestal and when and if they lose, it's catastrophic and something has to be wrong! Nole doesn't get that treatment, seems more down to Earth, but is still the undisputed #1 player in the WORLD! Nadal stills gets every benefit of the doubt if he loses; even those horrible matches in the last few Wimbledons! I still chuckle from a couple years ago when Roger fell on hard times, was changing his racket, and fell to #3! The Tennis Powers, advertising, and his own stature remained as if he was the #1 player in the World! Even after 2011, Nole's still scratchin' for recognition overall I guess!

Fedster won one point more than seppi yet managed to lose in 4 sets. Guess he improved on that record again.

That stat is frequently misleading. Big servers often hold with ease, and then get a few more points in the return game yet never really put too much pressure on the server either. Many matches where Karlovic or Isner win a bucket ton of points on their serve yet are completely outplayed and end up losing 4-6 4-6 5-7

Here, objectively, Seppi was outplaying Roger for most of the match. There was only a very brief moment at the end of the 3rd and end of the 4th where Roger looked to be elevating his game but it only was approximate parity.

Sometime you just have to look at the eye test.

Some of you diehard Fed fans need to get a life. Sure it sucks that he's out of the AO and therefore will not be there in the semis and final. But you got to give Seppi a lot of the credit as he just rose to the occasion and never tighten up. Methinks that the way he played yesterday, the italian probably would have beaten ANY PLAYER IN THE WORLD. Roger , at 33 years age, is far from finished.

Got up at 5:25am and I checked tennis.com for a few result updates, saw Roger was 2 sets down and promptly watched around 5 mins of it while having my breakfast before work. Having seen Seppi play pretty amazing against Djokovic at RG '12 taking the first 2 sets by the same scoreline I knew it would be a tough match. Biggest disappointment is this weekend I was finally looking forward to being able to actually watch some tennis and my interest in the tournament now went down about 99%
Honestly I saw how well Seppi was hitting and even after Roger won set 3 I still thought he'd lose but a quick check at work to see he lost kind put me a in a bad mood for the day. A pity Seppi plays Kyrgios next as I actually like both guys and would be nice to see both advance. Great match by Seppi anyhow by the sound of things even if it was far from Roger's best going by the recap of failed break point conversions and losing the lead in both tiebreaks. Can't believe he lost 2 tiebreaks after being up 4-1 and 3-1 (ok 3-1 is hardly a big lead). Ah well, always the other slams later in the year anyhow. One thing though...all the Youtube clips about a supposedly amazing match point?! I watched that around 10 times and it was a very slow, lightly hit ball. Listened to Roger's post match interview where he said the way Seppi hit it into the sun and on the run Roger made a guess it was going out but seriously it was a sitting duck for a volley and wish he'd put it away. Tentative play on match point is just not on.

I'll be hoping either Djokovic, Nishikori or Kyrgios (highly unlikely) win the whole thing now. By the way, for any masochists out there who also happen to be Fed fans, don't watch Ferrer v Simon later as it could induce suicide :snigger

That's Good because that logic will mean the Aussie with the mohawk hairdo Nick Kyrgios will defeat Seppi fairly easy. GO NICK !!!

Not so sure he will. Seppi's very consistent in rallies and strikes the ball very clean which will frustrate Kyrgios whose game is mostly big serve and first strike. I hope Kyrgios goes through but maybe his back and knee injuries will start to catch up on him. I like Seppi too though so will be happy either way. Pity they can't both advance.
