That pisses me off. I hope Serena still has a shot at mixed doubles! I know she was looking to maybe do that until Venus asked her to play.

Of course Serena is through to the next round. And she has broken another records - for wins at the AO. Congrats Serena. Can't wait to see you grab number 18 on next weekend.

She is the favorite, but it's a long way to go...

The winner of Brisbane has never won AO! May be Serena is the one to do it?

It does improve her chances at the singles crown, or at least that what she is thinking....

Martina didn't think that way! Most players today do doubles to improve....

Li converts the break point, she serves for the match and promptly wins it on her first match point.
No reason to gut it out, just gun it out!

Yeah, but she was thinking of the mixed doubles until Venus asked her to play. Makes me mad to hear Venus just left. All she is missing is Australian and French to complete the boxed set.

Venus left prolly because Serena asked her to...
Will get the official reason later, I will post it.

Bad move, me thinks....

Could be the heat - again today the temperature has been over 40 centigrades until about 17.00 local time and now temperature has dropped to ONLY 28 centigrades. Venus is not completely on top so I think IMHO it's a wise decision.

Now I've started to write - some intriguing matches on Rod Laver Saturday

Rod Laver Arena 11:00 am
Alize Cornet (FRA) [25] vs. Maria Sharapova (RUS) [3]
Teymuraz Gabashvili (RUS) vs. Roger Federer (SUI) [6] ATP
Garbine Muguruza (ESP) vs. Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) [10]

Not before 19:00
Yvonne Meusburger (AUT) vs. Victoria Azarenka (BLR) [2]
Rafael Nadal (ESP) [1] vs. Gael Monfils (FRA) [25] ATP

Stosur had set points in 2 different games, but Ivanovic evens it up. Sam will rue it if she loses this set, but Ana is hanging very tough.

Ivanovic missed three set points too. HIGHLY entertaining match. Too bad women's tennis is dominated by the Screaming three and not by players like these two and Li for instance.

Ok, that was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. Stosur is up in the TB, and it starts to pour with rain in the middle of the point. Out of nowhere. Welcome to Oz, I guess. Play suspended at 7-6 Stosur in the TB.

In other tournaments you use tools and close the roof :laydownlaughing - and they were warned by the first drops ;)

Ana is such a case

Yeah. She fended off three set points brilliantly, only to collapse when she got three set points. :nono

That was a tight first set, and Stosur had lots of chances. Ana fought back…I don't think that makes her a 'case,' just because she didn't win it. But now she has to regroup and stay positive.

Moxie. She was a case before she stepped out there tonight. It's the same old Ana, who loses matches from winning positions.

You could see it with that ball toss on set point, I knew she was in trouble.

I think Ivanovic has evolved in the last year. I'm not writing her off that easily.
