The game is changing a little bit,” Rafael Nadal said after losing to Fernando Verdasco, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2, in four hours and 41 minutes, in the first round of the Australian Open on Tuesday. “Everybody now tries to hit all the balls. There is no balls that you can prepare the point, no? Everybody hit the ball hard and try to go for winners in any position. Game become a little bit more crazy in this aspect.

---- Perhaps, there should be a rule against hitting a winner before the rally is at least 10 shots long.:lolz:

When he is hitting winners is Ok, when the opponents do it, it is crazy
:eyepop

Yeah but give the guy a chance to set up man...Return winners??? That's just mean...;)
That's what happens when you continually serve powder puffs.

As Carol35 predicted Verdasco promptly loses right in the next round and that too to Dudi Sela.
Now, this octet is Monfil's to lose; but, Gael might very well do it by indulging in clownery.

Pretty pathetic by Verdasco alright. He had a big opportunity to do well here or at least a whole lot better than losing in the 2nd round. Even if he was a bit fatigued he shouldn't lose to Sela of all people. And he shouldn't really have been that tired after just 1 match anyway.

Chardy was toast after that marathon with the billionaire's son, losing in three. Steve Johnson crushes Bellucci. Troicki is through in three. And Wawrinka is quietly crushing everything in his path.

Tomic is up a set against Bolelli. As big as he is, he can crush the ball whenever he wants, but all too often he makes the pusher Murray look like a heavy hitter. :cover.

After getting the break and serving for the third set, Bernie is in danger of losing it as Bolelli is up in the tiebreaker.

Verdasco is a 32 year old! Of course he should be tired after a long match, especially a big match against a player like Nadal. :cover

You're too used to Federer's unprecedented stamina and endurance, you think they're all like that... :nono

WTF does this mean? :lolz:

^You replied to Front that he is " too used to Federer's unprecedented stamina and endurance". That is, his judgement is affected by Federer's performances. So I made my comment.

You are losing half a step, Kieran:D.

I lost a half a step years ago. I'm getting by on my serve right now... ;)

Whoever has watched tennis for awhile whoever has to know that Verdasco rarely wins two matches in a row. He usually wins when his head works better and more if his opponent doesn't play so well, then he is more inspired and nobody can say that he has a bad serve and shots, but his "bobble head " doesn't go more far than that like Berdych, Dimitrov, Tsonga and Muzz sometimes. The consistence and confidence is the key of the success
