Thiem vs Goffin is like a battle of youngish future second tier players. Both could be future top 10s, although I think Thiem has a higher ceiling.

I am almost certain Thiem will have the better career. Goffin IMO will top out in the 10-15 range like Dolgo or Bautista Agut.
D. Thiem will be a top 10 sometimes.

Fed's matches so far have taken 1 hour 12 mins and 1 hour 33 mins. Mighty impressive.

Herbert is up a set and a break on Rubin. The thing I like about Herbert is that the kid will make his way to the net whenever the opportunity presents itself. Has a good deal of technical work to do, but he hits well enough and has a heart to win.

Herbert breaks at love to take the first game of the third set. He would not have done as well against Paire. Rubin gets a code violation after losing his serve. :snicker

Some people got on Paire for saying he lost to an inferior player. He did lose to an inferior player. Rubin is 0-4, 30-40 and could get bageled if he doesn't hold here.

Rubin shut out 6-0 in the third. Congrats Herbert!.

Long matches in the early rounds are what have killed his chances of winning more throughout his career. Nole used to have the same issue early on and has done a lot to correct the problem over the years. Wish Simon would have done the same.

Cahill just stated Sampras had the best 2nd serve in the history of the game. Then he went on to say Djokovic's second serve is approaching it. Huh?! :nono. Has a ways to go yet.

Haly's putting some good points together and staying with Novak in the third set 5-5

7-6 in the third set. It wasn't so much a drop in level from Novak(42w/14ufe), as it was sustained excellence from the young Frenchman. Very fun to watch Halys striking the ball so well.

Herbert main focus is the doubles. He is currently the USO champion with Mahut. He is a better player than his singles ranking would suggest.

If Cahill said that he must have ran into Agassi and his party friend Slim. That's blasphemous, Djokovic serves could Never come in the same dimension with Pete's serves Ever.

Watched parts of both Tsonga matches and I have to say he is playing quite well. As I am not a fan, and don't know his game well, maybe I am just seeing the same old, same old, but...

The only bad thing is that in both matches he let a few people on the stands disturb him. Today, is was literally half a dozen teenage friends of his adversary.

The courts look pretty fast, too.

By the way, not too impressed with what I saw from Djokovic (by his own standards).

With 42 winners to 14 errors? :snicker. Okay (by his own standards). His first service percentage was lower than usual, but his percentages of points won off first and second serve were both quite good. Credit to Halys for stringing together some superb points in the third set.
