For The Love Of Country
The ATP Cup is a team competition to kickstart the men’s tennis season. The tournament is typically played over 10 days in the lead up to the Australian Open and features teams from 24 countries. In the tournament's inaugural edition in 2020, the group stages were hosted in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, ahead of a four-day knockout stage – quarter-finals over two days, semi-finals and final – played on the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. Novak Djokovic led Team Serbia to victory at the inaugural edition in 2020. In 2021, due to COVID-19, 12 teams will compete in the ATP Cup in Melbourne.

Rafa Nadal withdraws from the singles of the ATP Cup against Australia with a stiff lower back and hopes he will be able to play on Thursday

So no tennis tomorrow, rain possible for Friday, and the finals are supposed to be on Sunday. How does this potentially mess with the start of the AO?

Looking at the standings for Group B: If Spain wins one match, they are into the semifinals due to having the most match wins the group (4). Greece has to win all three matches to win the group.

As for Group A: straight forward: the winner between Serbia and Germany will advance in the semifinals to face Russia in the semifinals.

The semifinals are set: Germany vs. Russia and Italy vs. Spain

Russia is probably the favorite right now because they have the two hottest players right now: Medvedev and Rublev

It will be interesting to see if Nadal will play at all this weekend (he should not).

Also, if you are Zverev right now, do you play in both the semifinals AND finals knowing you already have played A LOT of matches. In addition, AO starts Monday.

Why in the world Zverev is still playing if he tweaked something in the back knowing that the AO starts in two days?!
