Caro takes out Monica Puig in what I thought was the pick of the clashes. Took her 3 sets: 6 - 3 | 2 - 6 | 6 - 4

Sam Stosur continues her underwhelming form in Australian events... hammered 6 - 3 | 6 - 1

Quite frankly I do not know why Sam bothers:) at least she is consistent going out in RD 1 in both Brisbane and Sydney.

Caroline deserved her win.

What do you put it down to? Pressure? She's been abysmal on home turf as long as I can remember.

I dont think we can use the 'home pressure excuse' anymore.Sam also has horrid results at Wimbledon, she cannot play on grass.I had always thought her game was made for clay, then she played the match of her life and defeated Serena at the USO.
