Pliskova is so cool and concentrated. Nice win vs Giorgi, Nice to see Andrei Kozlov helping Sergio Giorgi in the Team Camila camp box.

Here is the deal with Izzy in 5 set matches, the good players figure out his serve after a while, I saw Del Po play him and he couldn't touch the serve for 1.5 sets, but after that he figured it out and hammered the returns and barely lost another return game. The other night Tiafoe seemed to have it figured out but came the rain delay and it was lights out after that. A pro explained to me that the returns now are great, and most top 75 players will figure it out once they get some rhythm. I think with Ivo it's harder to get any rhythm going.

Also Isner probably runs out of a bit of gas and loses some zip on the serve and his movement by set three four and five. And that fraction helps the opponent.

Isner beat Donaldson by the same score that he beat Tiafoe. There's just such a small margin of error against server like that. Great to see Sloane Stephens make it to the semifinal. Also Dimitrov is playing well and should have a great match with Isner tomorrow in the semi.

Doubles news: One of my 2 favourite teams, Herbert/Mahut, just defeated the Bryans in 3 sets. This morning, my other favourite, J. Murray?Soares, won over Rojer/Tecau. And a nice win by R. Harrison/Venus over the very good team of Kontinen/Peers.

Halep won over Konta in SS, taking the 2nd set TB. So, can she win this tourney?

This is what Isner does. Good point on 5-setters, he falls short often in them. I wonder if Grigor can beat him. Tough loss for Fritz but those Challengers are not easy. I expect Fritz to win a round in New York.

Can you believe Kyrgios? The guy is ridiculous when he actually has focus and effort. Up until the 5-4 game in the second set I had never seen someone dominate Nadal like that. A 133 mph second serve ace? Amazing stuff from the most interesting player in the world.

You've never seen someone dominate Nadal like that? Are you kidding me? Did you miss the IW match Federer won in March? Or the 2011 ATP Tour Finals round robin match when Federer dropped 6-3, 6-0 on Nadal? Unlike today - Nadal wasn't even playing badly in that 2011 match. Or any of the times Djokovic ran him in circles around the court - like the 6-1, 6-2 he dropped on Nadal in Doha in 2016? Please. Guys have played miles better against Nadal than Kyrgios did tonight.

Federer in "God Mode" against Nadal at the ATP Tour Finals in 2011. Watch that and tell me Kyrgios played better today than Federer did that day. No way, no how...

Hartt - I should think Simona has this one sewn up. She's had a fairly easy draw up to here but apart from that blip in Montreal, looks in good shape. Will end as No 1 as well ? Though that can be a poisoned chalice these days :) Konta's gone off the boil a bit. Tentative. Kyrgios could also win the whole thing if he keeps himself together.

Some players, Pliskova, Stephens, Nadal, have had to play two matches with pretty quick turnaround - doesn't altogether totally fair but doesn't seem to have affected Pliskova, Stephens. Maybe Nadal but he said, no.

Getting a bit illiterate here - mean 'isn't totally fair'... Pliskova made short work of Wozniaki who flatters to deceive I think.

Irrelevant I know and probably sexist as well, but I really hate that outfit Konta wears - flouncing bits of stuff - lines are sleeker these days - more appropriate, and flattering. And now for some comments on menswear....

Sorry Busted. Busted! I don't have those matches in memory or didn't see them! Not saying they didn't happen though. The point is Kyrgios plays incredible tennis when he tries.

That was a great win for Halep to survive Konta and finally beat her. She really earned this win. Konta is such a challenging competitor who never stops coming. Fantastic win for Halep.

Scoop - I don't know about Konta. At present Johanna lacks that extra something, at least to me. Her game seems a bit predictable and I don't get the feeling she intimidates other players. Wasn't surprised Simona beat her here - Helep's in good form. She's beaten Konta before of course. However - will be interesting to see how Johanna fares at USO with all the extra pressure this year.
