Don’t forget this part of @El Dude post: “You can also pick up to three alternates - players that if they're in the top 10, you get points, but not for picking the exact spot.”

Looks like folk around here took this game seriously, with all the updates and shifting players in and out of top 10 in the last moments hahah.

OK, we've got ten participants. I made a spreadsheet with everyone's final lists.

I chickened out last minute and swapped Alcaraz and Sinner. I want to believe in Sinner, but not sure. TBH, I kind of think Novak has one more year at #1 in him, ut am hoping he's dethroned...maybe not as much wishful thinking as dear Antipusher, but one can hope!

9 of 10 of us have Alcaraz for YE#1. Only you and @don_fabio had Dimitrov in the mix. This is a slow-burn of a thread, but maybe you can update our chances, later in the year. Definitely a delayed gratification thread. :popcorn

I was silently hoping for a mid-year recap, let's say after RG. Just to see how we stand, but don't want to be pushy. There is work involved after all. We are already blessed that Dude organized this nice little game for us.

Sure, I'll do some updates - at least after RG (which I see as mid-season), but maybe quarterly (say, after the Sunshine Double/pre-clay, after clay, and after the USO.

Plus, if you're nice to me like this, plus tickle my nerd-zone, I'll probably do it ;)

Kind of wish I stuck to my initial hunch and kept Sinner at #1. Only one Slam down, but I think he's got a legit chance at YE #1.

I did not participate on the game (sorry did not have time) but I think if Sinner does becomes YE#1, he needs to do better on the Clay season. Also, maybe even win three Masters 1000 titles because Alcaraz and Medvedev will definitely rack up those titles.

Well I doubt that's going to happen! It w/b nice to have Sinner make his move up, but we'll have to see! We can't believe things will change overnight! It wasn't that long ago Jannik was injury prone! Have we forgotten that? Winning more means more playing! :face-with-head-bandage: :astonished-face: :fearful-face:

I don't things ARE changing "overnight." Sinner is making a nice trajectory at 22, with a great team behind him, and now a Major in the bag. Yes, he's had some injuries, but he's a tall, skinny drink of water, and growing into his body is a thing. As is putting on muscle. Having injuries early in a career doesn't mean you'll be prone to them forever. Plus, hey...Rafa has in fact had injuries his whole career, and has won 22 Majors and counting. I think it's ridiculous to judge the path of a player's career based on a small sample.

I forgot about this, but crunched the numbers. Final results:
1 (tie). El Dude, don fabio 14 points
3 (tie). tented, Nadalfan2013 11 points
5 (tie). Moxie, Iomaha 10 points
7. shawnbm 9 points
10 (tie). Phileaglesfan, AntiPusher 8 points
12. attamole 7 points

If I do something like this again, I'll have to make a simpler scoring system as I had to do everyone several times to make sure I got it right.

More interesting are the trends of what people missed, namely no one picked Jannik Sinner to finish #1. I originally did but backed off at the last moment. Oh well. But he was certainly the most underrated. Also out-performing our collective predictions were Zverev and Fritz, maybe De Minaur.

Players that were overrated to varying degrees: Shelton, Rune, Nadal, Hurkacz, Tsitsipas. Some expected Arthur Fils to take a bigger step forward than he actually did. Maybe next year.

I know I skewed it a bit with wishful thinking for Rafa. I'm sure I also overrated Rune and underrated Zverev. Fritz was a surprise. I doubt I overrated Tsitsipas, myself, but, still, he really has sunk. Please do it again for next year. It's interesting!

El Dude I feel this is the right post for Gil Gross and his stats regarding Tsitsipas, which he stated was his fourth straight year of win rate decline ( thanks to Moxie who just posted ' I doubt I overated Tsitipas,, but, still, he has really sunk", reminded me to post these stats)

2024 Matches 63 Win 42 Loss 21 Win% 66.7

2023 Matches 74 Win 50 Loss 24 Win % 67.6

2022 Matches 85 Win 61 Loss 24 Win % 71.8

2021 Matches 75 Win 56 Loss 19 Win % 74.7
