Watch Rybakina hit close stance on FH and BH..Coco needs to take notes. Same thing with Iga, Coco needs to learn from them but she is still a baby who has the potential to be better than both of them. Stay tuned!
Coco's coach needs to take notes, apart from Coco lol!

I hope Bianca gets it together and wins another slam. I'd hate for her to become another Conchita Martinez that beat an aging all-time great for her only slam and never replicating that success.
Pulease, compare her to Iva Majoli & other one slam wonders who collapsed after their one big win. Bianca has so far crashed & burned spectacularly.

In contrast Conchita Martinez was a top player for over a decade, consistently competitive & reached 2 other Grand Slam finals & at least 20 SF’s & QF’s in her career. She played wonderfully in that W final over Martina N. , as Bud Collis put it, she was like “Borg in drag”. She beat a champ unlike Bianca who beat another first not to be repeated overwhelmed finalist Canada’s Fernandez.

After her W win Conchita made the SF’s in singles of all 4 Slams the next year. She won in all 33 tournament titles, was top 10 for 9 out of 12 years, and those other 3 years never dropped below top 15. She reached as high as #2 in the rankings the next year after her W win. She even qualified for the WTA YE champs 12 consecutive years.

Meanwhile its huge news if Bianca strings together 2 or 3 match wins in row these days. Bianca has reached 1 , count ‘em 1 whopping 4th round in 9 slams since her US Open win.

Bianca can only hope & pray she could have a career & legacy like Conchita Martinez.

Good suggestion Miss Margaret

Actually the western is the better grip for the baseliners of today..her grip is not her problem..it's her racket head speed is too slow to use the grip. She needs to watch Iga who uses the same grip.. Again it's Coco's footwork that need to improve. She needs to take shorter little steps to put foot to ball and commit to the close stance..watch the replay of Rybakina match with Conet .Try to observe how she squares up with the ball. I think @kskate2 aka our beloved Keli said Jimmy Arias said a few weeks ago and Rennae echoes my sentiments very similar about Coco's feet. Coco's defense is second to none..For years I have stated that two thirds of the earth is covered by water and the rest is covered by Nadal..today it's covered by CoCo s feet ..

I agree with Coco's foot work she is too slow at times getting to the fhand wing, still if you notice she swipes at the ball with a bigger swing that is needed and the result is a UFE, that is why I suggest she shortens her swing on her fhand western grip, then again if she arrives with plenty of time, she will be able to control her fhand better

Hey I think you are confusing Bianca w/ Emma. Bebe defeated Mama Serena in 2019 USO and Emma defeated Leylah in 2021 USO

Emma, Bianca, its all the same… ; )

Conchita Martinez is deservedly in the HOF, either gal should hope to equal her accomplishments & record

ETA: Looked up her stats, same reasons apply to her too. Tomatoe, Tomato.

Leylah Fernandez usually hard on her self when she loses, was up beat on her game today after her loss to Garcia in 3 sets,

'I'm happy with my game,I ;m happy where it's going, just got to be patient. Just got to trust the training, trust my coach and keep working".

I thought that match was probably the match of the round in the womens game, though the match between Rybakina v Cornet in the 2nd set was good, though sad when Cornet had the fall, to her credit she got up an played, before that happened, she was really pushing Elina in the 2nd set

I'm still surprised she lost.

Garcia has too much power off the ground, also her serve when on gives her plenty of free points, Fernandez much smaller frame has to do a lot of defensive work, though as I said this was the best level of play I have seen from her for sometime

Probably the 'stand out match ' for me is Svitolina v Kenin,

Elina on her comback to the tour ( after giving birth to a baby girl) has been impressive to say the least, she made the QFs at Roland Garros and her in her first round match here took out former champion Venus Williams.
Kenin has had a tough road on her comeback, though to her credit played qualifiers at Wimbledon and defeated a top seed in Coco Gauff, showing her former trade marks of pure determination, which frankly has been missing.
If Kenin can hit with pace and depth, like she showed against Gauff and with 'that determination' I feel she can win against Elina

Other matches of interest,

Garcia (5) vs Bouzkova (32)
Vekic (20) vs M. Vondrousova
Swiatek (1) vs P. Martic (30)

This is what @kskate2 has been saying about Svitolina, she is a good player but doesn't have weapons to really put stress on her opponents. I agree Kenin will be a very tough match..

I still CAN'T believe Sloane lost afterwards being up 1 set 5-2 40-40 in the 2nd set when Sloane tried an inside out FH from just inside the deuce court that missed by a couple of inches. SMH2

Saw her on tv over here and she was crying,I am really surprised by how her serve has kinda weakened. She is a sweet young lady and is hardworking.I want to see her play Rebecca Bianca or Genie, its time for these canucks to duke it out.
