^ he now has the top spot in career tiebreak record slightly over Federer too. He will have all the records soon. Well, not on clay!
He is obliterating all records. He is most likely going to equal Federer's Wimbledon records this weekend. This is painful to watch.

The only disappointing about today's match is Sinner's FH on break points. Just not smart shots from break point opportunities.

Novak saved all the 6 BPs he faced and clipped Sinner's wing in that TB for the 3rd set.
Also Sinner will regret that fhand he missed in the TB apart from the DF he did when he was 3-1

In hindsight, hard to gauge what Sinner’s form was this Wimbledon because the draw collapsed around him , so he had a relative cake walk to get to the SF’s. (It was almost it would have been bad if he didn’t get to the SF ) Sinner Wasn’t horrible but didnt exactly play inspired tennis either against Djokovic, which again at 21 you hope it would gell. If anything he was playing better last year when he upset Alcaraz & took Novak to five sets.

Sinner turns 22 in a couple of weeks and usually by this time the big breakthrough for champs has happened or is on the verge of happening at a Slam. IOW how much more upswing does he have? I’m talking in the high bar context of a Slam or multi-Slam winner , because of course Sinner is already an elite top player. Does he peak at 22 or 23, because the odds start to not look as good.

With FAA turning 23 in August, and Zverev, Tsits, Shapavolov, Ruud, Fritz, Tiafoe, Rublev, Berretini, etc all in age 24-27 range you have to ask yourself if they are all past their “peak” to genuinely challenge?

Of the old timers only Medvedev (27) seems to be a legit threat and of course Alcaraz but Carlos hasnt actually beaten Novak in a slam yet and blinked at the French. Its adding more pressure on Alcaraz. You just can’t automatically assume that Dkojovic is going to markedly decline in the next 12 months, and he trains/peaks for Slams. And at that point it doesnt matter if they can finally best Novak once he turns 38/39 where is the glory in that? Nadal’s injury left a huge void in more ways than one.

Holger Rune just turned 20, but again, it’s still promise at this point until he makes a final or beats Djokovic in a Slam.

So the mens game at the moment does seem a bit at low ebb: 1 or 2 challengers with a prayer against Novak for a slam ? If Med/Carlos cant beat Novak here…

The WTA should snort at this level of competitiveness.

I do not think players care that much whether or not they beat Djokovic to win a slam. For fans, yes that is "important" to us. But for players, they do not really care, imo. Because they can beat Djokovic at a Slam QF or SF, but if they dont win the title, then beating him while is a great moment still does not give them the slam title.

Prime example: Dominic Thiem

A lot of ufe’s from both guys, but they were both plus 10 and 12 with winners over errors. Looking forward to watching it.

Theim won on his 4th Slam final having lost the previous 3 finals to Nadal (2) and Novak (1) so yes im sure he was thrilled and could care less since he finally got his one. (Nadal opted not to play that october USO & Novak got DQ for hitting the linesperson.)

I mean Djoke is telling it right in the interview. Bean had 15-40 and a 2nd serve for 2 SP's and let him back in the game
I'm disappointed by Sinner performance today. I can't count how many opportunities he got and squandered all with UE. Just in a TB he played last 3 points into the middle of the net.

That’s pretty much it. Outside of those horrible FH misses on BPs, he actually played well. He even served smart and efficiently.

Getting to watch the match now and there was a whole lot of slipping and sliding and tumbling. Were the courts as slippery for the 2nd match??
