Is it just me, or is Alcaraz sort of like a better version of Thiem?

Oh, he's way better than that. And he's less of a clay man. I think he's more of an amalgam of the big 3. Plus, he's a two-hander. I wonder that he reminds you of Thiem at all. Why?

He hits the ball hard, really hard. But yeah, I can see "amalgam of the big 3." EDIT: Though I'm seeing a lot more Nadal and Djokovic than Federer.

It will be interesting to see who will be able to rise to challenge him once he reaches his level. It might be a several year period of king of the hill.

Still, it would make a better story if he won the USO. :)

Obviously he has more finesse than Thiem, and from my limited viewing him one of his strengths seems to be hitting a blazer then a soft drop in the next shot.

Great hands and anticipation at the net from Alacaraz and his racquet head speed is off the charts

He's the first real teenage meteor since Nadal. He has this USO and the AO to win a Major as a teenager. If he does, or keeps on this way, he'll be one of the kings of the hill, for sure. And he'll be #1, if he wins this USO. Will be interesting to see how he handles that, should it happen. He's lucky in Juan Carlos Ferrero as coach, everyone seems to feel.
