I wish Darren Cahill would commentate on all the mens matches, I understand that is highly unlikely,he is such a professional, his insight into to the players is second to none.

Well, he took the scenic route to the end of that set, but still got finished in the daylight.

Moxie,

If you are around I forgot to say Darren Cahill thought Rafa was rushing his game, a bit, towards the end, trying to win before their closed the roof.

He's missed some chances, but there is a huge difference in class and experience at this level.
I gave up watching but see he acquitted himself much better in set 3. He's often a slow starter (lost the first set to Gasquet, for example) and you can't afford a slow start against the top players. Experience I agree but if you watched some of the highlights of him I posted a week or so ago you can see what he's capable of so I don't agree on the huge difference in class.

I had Darren Cahill's commentary as well, and I agree with him. I also agreed with him when he said, "I never thought I'd say this, but I think Rafa should slow things down." He made himself uncomfortable and was pushing it a bit. Well, he still got it done in 3. And before they closed the roof.

I said that in part because I knew you wouldn't agree, but I think you're wrong. Van de Zandsculp is a decent player, but as much as it may bother you, Rafa has 2 Wimbledon titles. There IS a class difference. Players like VDZ can look very good against lesser lights. I'm not saying he's not a really good player, either. But there is a difference between him and an ATG. You have to get over not thinking that Nadal is good on grass. In fact, he has often been great on it.

Is that necessarily better or worse as long as Nadal gets there?

Tennis fans are like Goldilocks, constantly searching for the just right mix of being tested before a final for their fave; "too much" or "too little" both have their pitfalls per all the armchair quarterbacks. :)
I get what you're saying, but what I'm saying is that if Kyrgios gets to Nadal on Friday, I think that's a tough match. I didn't automatically put Rafa in the final.

I am going to watch the mens doubles final and use this post
Aussie doubles team are the r/u at the AO this year to Nick K/Thanasi K

M.Eben/M.Purcell (14) vs N.Maktic/M.Pavic (2)

First set went to a /breaker which the Aussies won 76(5). It was a tough first set, both teams held their serves with ease, though had trouble making inroads on their opponents service games.Pavic has a broken bone in his right hand, what a warrior, though to date it does not seem to bother him.

The Aussies win the first set in a tiebreak.

Brad Gilbert just said Pavic has a broken bone in his right wrist, but decided to play anyway. Ouch!
