If only Shapo is allowed to outsource big points, he would win a lot of GS titles.

In all three sets (especially in the first two), Shapo played better than Novak. Novak won, because he played the big points better. That is the story of the match.

Novak was stiffed for long time, unusually.

I am glad he played well despite the loss. I don’t think the outcome was in question. It was just disappointing to see Shapovalov miss every opportunity Novak presented him with to extend this match and waste it. He is almost there, and he certainly can be a slam contender if he makes the right adjustments to his game. I’m rooting for him now more than ever with fire power like that, he is certainly a dark horse at tournaments.

He makes way too many errors to be a slam contender imo. Semis is likely his best slam result for the long term.

You may think he's been around awhile, but he's just 22. I don't even think it will take him as long as it did Stan to figure out how to win big. Even Cilic won a Slam, and that in the era of the Big 3-4. And that era is ending, either sooner or later, but, as I mentioned, Denis has the time to wait them out.
