Of course now I notice it once he's slid back to #3, but I believe that Daniil Medvedev is the tallest player ever ranked #2, at 6'-6". Marin Cilic and Del Potro only reached a career high #3.

I seen it about 20 times already. I am thirsty to see the full match..I am fiending like a grandmother fiending for an 6.5 fl oz bottle of coca Cola
You may have to wait to get back and see the rerun on tennis channel. I'll keep an eye out, though. It's On Demand, if you have TC+.

From what I am reading Rafa has confirmed to play.Even though I do not like this 'mickey mouse fake clay tournament' :)
I mentioned above that Rafa is conflicted and somewhat ambivalent about Madrid for various reasons. One is surface and altitude, which isn't a good tune-up for RG, but one is also that Tiriac has always muscled him about playing it. On the other hand, it's in Spain, and lots of basketball and soccer stars who are friends of his attend. With socializing and going out in Madrid less of an option, I'm sure it won't appeal as much, but if he's fit, I'm fairly sure he'll play.

We go through this every year. There's no reason no benefits besides appearance fees for Rafa. Get your Rest Rafa and get ready for Roma ( Rome)..

Warning: it’s that crazy kind of match where both Rafa and Stefanos coulda/woulda won in straight sets and both had chances in the 3rd earlier to put it away.

It’s like drinking a peaty bottle of single malt whiskey, rough going at first, not smooth at all as it burns your throat but a great finish.

A Lagavulin definitely.

It is in Spain I am sure he will play, don't mention that horrid little man Tiriac to me.one player I know will never play Madrid ever is Serena Williams, what he said about her earlier this year was disgraceful, her husband defended her on Twitter and gave him his mind as he should.

Tiriac isn't very PC, that's for sure and I'll say this, Serena looks much fitter lately than she has in years, but it's fair to say she was in less than ideal shape in the past and eg same for Kim Clijsters who I like but has had a lot of injuries and it's obvious both of them are carrying a bit too much weight which doesn't help running left and right and laterally match in, match out. The problem with the world today is people get criticised for anything they say which is not PC even if it's true. I guess he could have said she should work more on her fitness but reading between the lines, it comes across as the same except actually saying someone is overweight for a sport like tennis. I mean, if you're playing people half your age and you're not only double their age but also much less agile as a reslt of a few extra pounds, he's not really wrong, it's just hurtful for her to read and hear it. But it's still factually correct what he said.

What Tiriac said isn't "the truth." It's his opinion. You may share it, including that she should retire, but you didn't say it to the press. If he had any decency, he would have kept it to himself. But everyone knows he doesn't, because he's vile.

How are rankings working right now? If for example Djokovic loses early in Rome and RG to his masters Sonego and Evans does he lose most of his points or will his points from last year still be protected because of the pandemic?

What about tournaments that weren't held last year like Madrid and Wimbledon, do players gain all the points they accumulate this year or are they defending points from two years ago (2019)?

With Djokovic's current form I have a feeling that GOATdal will make a move on the no.1 ranking! I just want to understand the current situation with how they are counting points.

Well, I'm sure he was asked and didn't say it blindly as it was an interview as per below.

Tiriac, an 81-year-old former Olympic tennis player and director of the Madrid Open, made the widely-condemned comments during a recent interview on Romanian television, saying: “At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as she did 15 years ago … Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency, she would retire.”

^ I agree with all the above and it's a fact she does not move as well as she did 15 years ago. So he's correct there. Same for pretty much any human being on the planet but more so when you're not only older but heavier but I don't think she should retire if she feels she's still in contention to win big titles. I don't think she is unless pretty much all the good opposition are knocked out or injured but I'm saying if she thinks she can win them, then she should play as long as she believes she can. All it would take is a bad final by Osaka, for example. The only part that I see as harsh is the part highlighted in red as when she chooses to retire is up to her and nothing to do with having decency. She looked the fittest I've seen her in years at AO as I already stated so maybe she'll use this as a catalyst to prove doubters wrong. She played very well against Osaka, who just played better but, like I said, all it takes is an off day from Osaka or whoever else is across the net and they all have bad days which may coincidence with a good day from Serena.

In my opinion Serena with 23 GS titles should retire 'on her own terms' full stop.Just like Federer who still loves the game of tennis and has nothing left to prove.

Novak will lose 500 points ( not 1000 points) because he is not paying Madrid......defending champion from 2019.
Novak is playing Belgrade 2 ATP 250,Rome where he is the defending champion,Roland Garos.
