No one's watching Nadal and Murray? Shocking! Andy took the 1st set and is making Rafa's life miserable by hanging in the 2nd! Nadal's had to save dropping serve with S/V action more than once! Now Rafa's done what "also-rans" do; stopped play and challenged a ball that was too difficut to handle close to his body! It was in helping to break him at 5 all! Let's see if Sir Andy can serve it out! I'm questioning his ability to do so! :shushing-face: :negative:

Wow! Murray's not doing much to be taking this match! Nadal's just not all there! How can he be a favorite "down under" playing like this?

Yes, exactly. To say Rafa did "nothing" is a bit much, but Fiero never met a hysterical exaggeration he couldn't shout out. :face-with-tears-of-joy: It was a 2-hour 2-setter. And I thought Rafa looked pretty good, first match back. Andy's been playing some good tennis again, of late. And tomorrow Rafa gets Shapo, so I think it's a good way to get back in the swing.

Murray was the better play today,Rafa had over 41 UFE,quite frankly I didnt think Rafa would win.
Murray plays Rublev in the final.Rafa will play Shapo.,Rafa needs more match play,so I hope he will play the ATP pre tournament in Melbourne before the AO.

It is just an exhibition folks, Rafa had so many unforced errors. If you are a fan as I am, I would much rather have him be terrible today, and have a match under his belt before he plays in Australia. Good for Murray, who really seems to be eager to return to the tour and challenge for titles again. I know there is alot of controversy about wildcards, but he is a GS champion and Olympic champ, so I say they are well deserved. It will be interesting to see how he fares against Rublev in the final.

I ony give Fedal fans GRIEF because Novak isn't allowed a bad outing; EVER! "It's a colossal choke job that he didn't complete his CYGS just 1 match away; 27/28! His run is finally over! He ll be lucky to win another major!" The hyperbole is always out of control because Nole's normally the most prepared of the the Big 3 each and every time he goes out there! The rare upsets occurred 2017-early 2018! Drama had to be going on behind the scenes so I give him a pass! I used to think Ivan Lendl was the All Time true "Iron Man" of the tennis elites! Djokovic's stretching obsession has probably kept him on court more than anything and will put numbers of sustain consistency out of sight in the record books! It's the reason he owns the Aussie Open even with the many wins of Federer! What's helped is Nadal's never ready early in the season; hence only winning ONE "down under" after so many attempts! Now I've jinxed NOVAK! :sick::negative::fearful-face:

Who are you quoting with "he'll be luck to win another major?" And "27/28?" And you can say "rare upsets," but he did lose a lot to Roger and Rafa, earlier in his career. And to others. And he retired a lot. Oh, you mean when he went on the 2 year walkabout? You say that "drama had to be going on behind the scenes." So you give him a pass. What drama? Anyway, you should give the same "pass" to Roger and Rafa when they haven't been 100% and Novak got to hoover up some Majors. We good?

41 UFE, which isn't bad for the avg ATP players but we know 5-9 UFE per set is probably the range that would be acceptable for Rafa whenever he gets his matches behind him. I actually liked the way he was serving and volley. I didn't expect a lot from him either and those UFE would have been higher if he didn't slice his backhand. As his confidence grows Rafa will be coming over his BH..DTL and the gorgeous CC BH which is his second most dangerous weapon and when it's is hitting with precision, he will be playing on finals Sunday.

Rafa's still making some rusty, uncharacteristic errors v. Shapo today, but he'll clean it up. Denis is playing pretty well and his game troubles Nadal, sometimes. still, his hot head cost him the first set.

How was Rafa in the tiebreak? They’re never a given with him, so I’m glad he grabbed this one.

Murray's looking rather old and a step behind with Rublev pummeling the ball and up a set! The games aren't the same, but I compare Rublev to Berdych! Pounds the ball, has a decent enough serve, but there's almost no real purpose behind whacking away! At #5 in the world it's just about a setback for the top tier of men's players when accustomed to the Big 3 and the other top NG'rs! :negative: :yawningface::facepalm:
