I think this may actually be the most entertaining of the four quarterfinals.....I had not seen Berretini before this tournament but I was impressed by some of what I saw against Rublev.
I see a very possible 5-setter here. I won't be disappointed to see either win. I just hope they don't destroy each other and not leave much energy for the guy Federer should have beaten multiple times in RG finals but did not.
06,07,11?
2007 and 2011 especially.
It will be very interesting as they have never played each other. Usually Monfils defends from the stands, so I am sure we will see a lot of drop shots by Matteo, who is pretty good at those.Ah, the 20/20 hindsight/retrospective (ir)reality. At least it's not Darth or me turning this into a Fedal Wars thread.
I like Berrettini a lot, and not just because he's pretty. He's shown a lot of growth this year. But I think Monfils has, too, and he's got the experience. This is the popcorn match to watch.
They'd better be good, because Monfils is the fastest guy on tour. SO looking forward to watching this one. Remember, Monfils' GF, Svitolina, is still in the tournament. This is an X-factor. Men are peacocks, and often bring their best when trying to show off for a women. Or especially not to be shown UP by one. Lots going on here. And don't forget, Berrettini knows that Kelli is pulling for him...It will be very interesting as they have never played each other. Usually Monfils defends from the stands, so I am sure we will see a lot of drop shots by Matteo, who is pretty good at those.
I will stock up with popcorn, surely
Has he played on Ashe yet? Because that's kind of a thing. I will tell you, GF, that I thought of you watching him on Armstrong yesterday. As long as he doesn't get stage fright again, Babycakes in 4 to make his first slam SF.
Intimidation factor, for sure. Noise. And a lot of room to move, which will serve Monfils. But he's got a solid chance, and I'm happy for either.I don't think he's been on Ashe yet. That's why I said 4 sets. I think it will take him a set to get accustomed to the size of Ashe.
