Kachanov trying to play with less pace, pays in the first attempt. Too late to change the first set. Two set points.

A touch of luck in the second set point and Thiem leads 1-0. High quality match, KK was not able to sustain the initial level. Thiem never took the foot out of the gas pedal.

Set two begins with the same sky high quality of the first.

I think you need to be handed the mic. as you appear to be talking to yourself. Lol. Your running commentary will be very helpful for people who can't watch for whatever reason though.

That's the idea. We do this quite a lot actually, one who can watch comments as he knows a few others are following from somewhere.

Credit to KK who is playing at 0-2 just like he was when the match started. Just connected a monster return of serve.

I know. I've noticed. It's great. I was just joking around about the fact that you appeared to be talking to yourself & I was feeling sorry for you. Poor soul! Bless you! You get the message. Lol. I also thought I'd better end on a serious note so I wouldn't annoy anyone though.

I gotta say. I'm glad both of these matches are progressing fairly straightforward so I don't feel like I'm missing much because I cannot bring myself to care about either one of them. I think I might be tennised out. Of course. I'll be stoked for Fed/Rafa. But I only watched the last 3 or 4 games of the Halep/Anisimova match this morning and like 45 seconds of Keys/Barty.

Rare bad game from KK and he gifts it with a few DF's. Thiem with one break up, serves at 3-2.

KK's will is finally broken and Thiem breaks for the second time. Will serve for the match at 5-2. This match was much much better than the scoreline indicates.

Ze German will be a serious challenge to Novak. He really believes, and he definitely has the game to challenge Novak

KK is fun to watch but he is a pure ballbasher. Maybe he surprises and wins a slam or two but it's tough to see him ever becoming a mainstay in the top 5. BB is more bullish on him than myself.

I thought Austrians don't like being called Germans? Not that I actually care mind you :)

Thiem maybe turns a corner this year, he may end up being our Obi-Wan this tournament.

ballbashers have their place in tennis history. Gonzalez made it to a slam final. Just depends on who he ends up facing. I can see him as a solid top 10, maybe top 20 player for some time. But it usual takes a few extra brain cells to win the whole thing. I just can't remember a single ball basher getting smarter over time. I might be wrong..
