This will be Frances Tiafoe's first slam quarterfinal appearance and his first match up against Rafael Nadal at a tour event.

It seems like Tiafoe was hobbling after his match against Dimitrov.

It will be interesting to see if Tiafoe can put some type of fight after that physical match against Dimitrov.

Nadal right now is better player on all surfaces, than federer? Hes gotten deeper in the last 4 grand slams.

On grass I'd say no, otherwise yes but who wouldn't expect a 37 year old to be inferior to a 32 year old. The change of balls at the AO this year hasn't helped here for Roger and makes things a lot better for Nadal as it slowed things down. Federer screwed up against Anderson at Wimbledon and should have gone much further than he did last year.

Ok agree I give you grass for now, federer will always better on grass, overall. But if federer has a bad wimbledon, and nadal does better you would have to say he's better currently.

I know nothing about this guy. What kind of player is he? Big hitter? Big serve? I can't see him troubling Nadal anyway, but I'm curious to know.

It is late in the fifth set. Nadal is limping a bit. He mounted a huge comeback from two sets down. He is serving at 30-40, 5-6, everyone and his dog knows that if it goes to the super-tiebreaker, he's got it. A wide, wide serve and Tiafoe slices the return, it touches the tip of the net, it goes waaay up, it falls and hits the net again... this will decide the match, to which side this ball is going to go, what is going to happen????

No! @Moxie had a heart attack! Nothing else matters now! Get well soon, my friend! C'mon, legendary NY paramedics, be like the ones in the movies and hurry with that ambulance!!!!!

Pretty big serve. Very odd looking forehand but he can hit big. I don't think he's going to trouble Nadal personally.
I saw him play at the Hopman cup. I think he pretty much lost every match he played. I did not expect this result.

I watched his match on TV once a few years ago at one of the slams, probably U.S. Thought his serve was really weak back then.

I watched some of the Tiafoe/Dimitrov match replay earlier today. He was hobbled only by cramps, so he can recover from that. He was very cute in his on-court interview when told he'd play Rafa next. He said, "I have to go to bed right now, as a matter of fact. He's going to run me all over the court." But he's young, and hungry for it, and he's taken a big step up. He's very strong, good serve, and he's taken that hitch out of his FH. I voted Rafa in 3, but, after I watched the Dimitrov match, I think he could take a set, and it wouldn't make me sad, since I'm rooting for him to go far. Just not in this tournament. ;)

Tiafoe has already punched way above his weight. It is the end of the road for him. Rafa in three (no so quick) sets.

Tiafoe lost all his three matches in Hopman cupt (to Fed, Perseus and Norrie) and then went to Sydney lost there in first round to Milkman. It is actually a huge surprise that he went this fat at AO considering his form coming in.
