I just checked the score and read a report. This was an exhibition match only on the paper. Tsitsipas even smashed the line judge chair with his racket. 3 hours and 15 minutes of play with plenty of games that went to deuce. Wow.Excellent final today at the Mubadala Exhibition event in Abu Dhabi between Nadal and Tsitsipas. Nadal won 6-7, 7-5, 7-6, and both played terrific tennis. Didn't look like an exhibition, at all. Nice little capper on the year, and bodes well for both in 2020.
Cheong was quoted as saying that no one plays it like an exhibition there. Certainly they didn't play the final like one. Rafa's H2H v. Tsitsipas is 5-1, and now, unofficially, 6-1, but Stefanos is clearly gunning for him. The play-off for 3rd was clearly more of a giggle, with Djokovic beating Khachanov in straights. There were some great trick shots at the end, and I'll see if I can find them to link here.I just checked the score and read a report. This was an exhibition match only on the paper. He played, and he didn't win. Could have done better, for his effort. Lost to Tsitsipas in a 3-setter. Unofficially, that puts Stefanos ahead of him in their H2H, which is tied at 2-2. He won't be wanting to see him at the AO. As to ATP Cup, we'll just have to see how that shakes out as a tune-up.At least Djokovic didn't waste too much energy and heart on this silly event! I feel the same about ATP Cup; more wasted effort for ??!!
Yes, Stefanos is making Rafa work hard, but Rafa still pulls out a win. That can't be said for Novak. I have a feeling that serb has plenty of guys now who he don't want to see in his side of the draw, like Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Wawrinka...the names are piling up.Rafa's H2H v. It was a great match, some errors by both players but great shots too. Rafa's serve didn't work so well but he played really well in front of an opponent who gave everything to win but...he couldn't. Like the Nole-Slam, when Roger and Rafa were MIA? It's a great accomplishment, but came with basically no opposition. What other records were you thinking of...most $ in a year? Novak does have a bigger problem with the youngsters than Rafa and Roger do. He's got to come back strong in 2020 to overcome them.I'll still take Nole's career; warts & all! He has records neither Fedal have a chance at or will ever be achieved by any of these Newbie's!
injured Pouille pulled out of AO
He is not going to give you that happiness, idiot! :lulz2:This is just about the norm these days! The game's just hard on players today! I guess it's a wonder Rafa's held on this long!
