I think she and Venus need to start competing with each other for a set before their matches to warm up better

I went out for a run and didn't even make it back before the end. Congrats to Angie.

That one will be the hardest for her. She's not a natural clay courter. Definitely plays better on HC

She's a backboard when she's at her best, has a decent amount of topspin so she should be good on clay.

Figured the match today would be close to 50-50. I didn't see much of Serena at this event but she was struggling with a couple lesser opponents.

You would think so, but she doesn't play all that well on it. Given the right draw, she might be able to snag one. But just like this tourney, she needs someone to take Simona out. Simona seems to have her # now and I have to believe Halep will feature at RG again.

As for Serena, she was flat from the beginning. Wasn't really able to lift her game much and Kerbie jumped on her. All credit to Angie.

I don't follow enough to know but maybe it's a movement issue on clay? What's her best result at RG?

This is a question for me. She digs in for long points and isn't especially aggressive. Why not clay? Just lack of exposure on it?

Here's a novel idea. Make the women play best-of-5 set final at least at the Big W. That final lasted a measly 64 minutes. I think it was getting better in standard near the end.

Darth brought up a good point. It may be movement

Even though I watched it live, I did not shout in the box. Congratulations to Angie (and to me in predicting her win :p). Now, she is the only woman not named Williams that has beaten Serena twice in GS finals.:clap:

As I said in my prediction post, while Serena managed to reach the final, it was mostly due to luck of draw. She did not have to face anyone worthy of writing home about. That was the major problem. Actually, if she had faced a better competition and reached the finals, she would have been competitive in the finals.

But, I am sure she would some day reach Court, sooner or later.

I know that. Where I was at that morning blocks ESPN streaming.

I see, the long arms of admin at work blocked you. :-(

How do they expect you to work peacefully without watching streams simultaneously?
