And I understand Muller is serving well, but Nadal got broken twice against the guy who's no match for him from the baseline.

GM takes the second. He is the player who can keep his head cool, but it's mainly Nadal unraveling. If he gets back in GM might still lose it.

Its very strange. I was thinking GM would need to serve out of his mind, get lucky somewhere and take a tiebreak or two.

I still see Nadal coming back, his level and that of GM is too low to make this last.

I just hope GM takes a tiebreak now

In fact, since AO the weak spot in Nadal´s game is that he is being broken way too easily (in relative terms to where his overall level is). Obviously his game was never around his serve, but this year I have a feeling (which I guess is backed up by stats) that he is being broken more than ever (in comparison to his good periods, not last year). Even when he would go on to win a set 6x2 or 6x1 he would still be broken, I guess that there is hardly a set where he was not broken -- even lately in his (very good) run of a lot of matches without losing a set. Because of that I was sure he would have trouble against good servers, like today.

That's much better from Rafa. He's willing himself to be more confident and play better. ¡Vamos!

Rafa takes the break, a bit dodgy what he did on the first point though.

There was a gamesmanship in that game on the very first point. Nadal saying he was not ready in Muller's serve. Nadal delaying the game not only when he is serving, now he is delaying it when the opponent is serving. :lol6:

He does it a lot, he takes advantage of the fact that you are supposed to wait for your opponent to be ready. Hence the towelling off after eating an ace.

GM recognised the foul play and complained about it to the ump, obv to no avail.

The Berd has taken a two sets to one lead over Thiem. I'm actually surprised with the Berd right now.

Can't help but feel it's too little too late for Nadal. Grass is not the surface where he can will his way back. He has to play pretty much flawless (at least behind his own serve) for the rest of the match.

Well this is his best slam and he's playing Thiem, who is more a clay courter. But yeah berd didn't really have a lot of momentum going in.

I agree, BS. But also Nadal is not the type of player that comes back from 2 sets down often. He is has only 3 wins from two sets down and his last one came (ironically) in 2007 at Wimbledon.

Nadal served really well that set (which pretty much shows what he's missing on grass because his results would improve dramatically if he served better). But he still got tight serving for it. I think Muller will pick it up in the 4th. He sort of gave up after getting broken.

So, with some gamesmanship Rafa wins the third set.

Rafa is serving well though right now.

Muller's first server percentage and double faults are increasing.

But, I think he will pick it up.

Nadal seems a little worked up lol he takes the third. Its a bit of a tossup now. Hope GM can keep the serve coming.
