Murray game is built to deal with the types like Brown ..

Tell that to Mischa Zverev who plays the same way and has a much worse serve than Brown but still destroyed Murray at the AO this year. Given the first week at Wimbledon plays much faster than a slow/medium hard court, Brown can do better than expected if he serves and volleys well. Brown himself has unreal lobs. Check YouTube and you'll see shots Murray couldn't hit in his dreams. His problem of course is inconsistency and he seems content being remembered for occasional brilliance on YouTube. Which is a shame.

Dolgopolov retires. Why are there so many retirements in the first 2 days of Wimbledon?

I don't have the numbers to back it up but I've always felt Wimbledon produces more retirements than another majors. Some of it is related due to grass-related incidents (ie slips) but it could also be due to it coming at the busiest time of the seasons and players' bodies are worn down. Anyone has numbers on retirements by slam?

Carol has a good point here. Novak has beaten fed twice in a final here. Nadal only once. Novak also has a winning h2h. If you take those stats, you should be more worried about Novak than Nadal. Nadals momentum is grossly exaggerated. He lost all those hc finals even against fed. Yes he had a decent clay run, but not a great one. Just a very good French open. And that's your basis for being worried about Nadal? Heck, as a Djokovic fan I'm not even worried about Nadal.

That feeling when winning 2 out of 3 clay masters events + Barcelona + winning the French Open without dropping a set is only a "decent" clay run, and "not great."

That aside, I agree Nadal's momentum is no different to most years he enters Wimbledon (except in 2008 and 2010, and those years he actually ended up winning it), and momentum or not, he's been awful at Wimbledon so he needs to actually prove whatever momentum he has will translate on the court.

My question is why all of you think that Roger has more probabilities to win now if he has not won Wimbledon in 5 years, maybe because his result on HC this year? sorry but I don't buy that

Why did Nadal have the highest probability of winning Roland Garros when he hadn't won it in 3 years?

Yeah, I agree, decent for his standards, pretty awesome for anyone else of course. It is what you say: no different to most years he entered Wimbledon. We should also not forget that the HC season while pretty decent actually had some major dents due to the losses to Fed, a guy he owned like no-one else even outside clay.

Ferrer beating Gasquet is a pretty good result, but I wonder why he is still playing. He is clearly not in the position to do a Fed and this hurts his legacy a bit no?

On the other hand, if you can do this for a living I would probably keep going as long as I can too.

Has Roger dominated on grass like Rafa on clay? Is Roger the same age than Rafa?

Lets see..corporate stressful office politics or getting paid for playing a kids game as an adult, staying in shape and traveling around the world..I think would play as long as I could..I think a Haas should give it one more year..he just defeated Federer on grass..maybe less than 10 people in this world is capable of that accomplishment

I'm taking that win with a significant grain of salt.

Yeah, but a guy like Ferrer does not need to play for money anymore and it does require sacrifices. Then again, I would probably enjoy it, but I don't have 17 years on tour in my bag.

I am still dreaming about playing mixed doubles in my later years on the tour with Hingis. However .i doubt my missus will allow me. Lol

Well Brad Gilbert just stated that Murray's game can handle Brown..maybe you know something that Brad and myself isn't aware of

I don't think Ferrer has the type of legacy that will be hurt by him struggling at the very end of his career. And I'm not saying that to be mean but we aren't talking about a guy with 10+ majors who has fallen to #50 or anything.

There is no doubt that the guy #1 in the world, no matter which kind of game he has, can deal with the #96 (or thereabouts). The question was more like "is it possible to beat Murray by serve & volleying?", and as Front put M Zverev answered that at the AO.
