The only thing that annoys me right now is Nadal's positioning on break point! Dimitrov has been hitting up the T every time but Nadal is not adjusting to it!

Nasal keeps putting pressure on Dimitrov's serve and will surely break through eventually ... But not here as Grigor saves bp and holds for 3-2.

Well done to Rafa. :clap

Dimitrov definitely showed his quality here. Can Roger go better than him and beat Rafa in the final?

Too bad for Dimitrov, Grigor played outstanding..:clapI think he has arrived..His defense was at Novak's level..

This is why us(Rafa fans) love this kids..his true Grit ..Grigor would have defeated anyone..I seriously doubt that Roger could play at this level..

No..I am sad to say..it's a bit much to ask of a 35 year old man.

The Serbian commentator on Eurosport said that if Dimitrov cobtinues to play like this, a slam and a masters title is within his reach. I agree. Dimitrov is finally playing in accordance to his talent, and Nadal somehow barely escaped. Marvellous. Best match at the AO in recent years, for sure.

Well, whatever happens they've both exceeded pre-tournament expectations by a huge margin.

Unfortunately Roger has never really been able to solve Rafa's forehand to his backhand, at least over best-of-5. I guess he'll be looking to play fewer long rallies than Grigor did - but he has not found it easy to execute an attacking gameplan against Nadal.

Anyway, good luck to them both!

This was the best match at AO in the last 6, 7 editions or so. Amazing tennis from Dimitrov, awe-inspiring. Nadal fought as usual, unyielding play from him.

We have a Fedal grand slam final. After 5 years and a half. And after 8 years on a surface other than clay. At Australian Open after 8 years. What to expect?? I hope Roger can play up to the expectations. I would even say that I want him to win the title. Hoping for the best. I do agree totally that Rafa is the favourite going into this. He is again gotten too strong. But, I certainly do think Roger can find a way to win. He has already surprised us enough, hasn't he? Let's be positive.

I can't believe how negative you guys are regarding the match. I can understand your concerns but isn't this court a bit modified here? And this is not clay. Federer is playing great tennis again. Come on guys. Be positive.

And, he is our Federer, so be hopeful.

Yep - I want to bel18ve, but Fed goes in as favourite.

They did play AO 2012 and 2014 SF, so it's not quite that long ago that they played here. Still, much has happened since then, and there is precious little information on how this will turn out. I just hope Roger doesn't fall into the trap of playing too many long baseline rallies.

"Fed goes in as the favorite "

In my opinion, I seriously doubt Fed would be the favorite..

Nadal always 'somehow barely' escapes these! He will repeat it in the final!

Nadal knew he had won the moment Grigor couldn't recognize two virtual match points when Grigor had two break points at 4-3 in the 5th set. Shot making cannot make up for naivete.

Congrats to Rafa on the double career slam. Personally, I don't think losing to Rafa bothers Roger much. So they'll enjoy a beer afterwards.
