In the third set, Fed lost a game early and then was serving with a score of 2-5 (yes 5 games to Noah) and in that game Noah had two break points that Fed needed to save. Otherwise, Fed would have lost the third set and that too as a double break set loss.

However, Fed won three games in a row to make it 5-5 and then forced it to tie-breaker and won the TB quite easily.

After the fairly easy first two sets, ESPN switched to some other match and so I don't know what exactly happened. But, Fed seemed to kick his legs and catch the foot (like one does in some stretching moves after biking etc). So, it looks like physically he is not 100%, either due to lingering injury issues or because he got tired after two sets. Independent of what is the case, it does not bode well. I think QF may be the ceiling of Rog at this AO.

He is basically 2015 Nadal right now.

48 winners to 41 UEs against someone like Noah isn't very surprising but it does speak about his low confidence at the moment. He is not very confident right now. That's it. Plus, FH looks off in the highlights. Certainly, his FH groundstrokes have really become off-colour. Don't know if its an injury or simply bad form. Berdych should be able to beat Roger in this form if he himself is doing what's required and not trying to hit Roger out of the court. Roger will go as far as his service will take him. But, let's not show more negativity here. It's Roger's first real tournament after his lay-off and by IW-Miami I hope he gets cracking.

P.S.: I didn't watch the match live.

it's obvious that the old Mr Vavrinec has to play much better to beat Tomas, especially to the net

To the net? What does it mean?

Didn't see the Fed match, but sounds pretty much as I expected after the first round. At least he managed to finish it in straight sets, which is a positive.

It's going to be tough against Berdych. But then again, these guys know each other well, and Berdych can also be up and down a bit sometimes, so it's not impossible that Fed pulls it off. What worries me, though, is that I don't think Roger could win in straight sets, and if he was flagging a bit in the third here, then that's not a good sign.

Barring something dramatic happening, I think we can put to bed any talk of Fed beating Murray in the QF - Andy just bagelled Rublev in the second set and is looking very sharp ...

Andy hurt his ankle early in the third set, but can't be too bad considering he just won the set (and the match) 6-2 ...

What happened to Kyrgios? I thought he is going to win this AO, what a shame!:D
De Minaur will have to wait to the next tournament but it seems he has a good future
Shock is playing well while Cilic goes more and more reverse
And talking about easier or difficult draw I forgot about Muzz, he still needs to play against 'someone' to see well where is his level now

Kyrgios is still not good enough. His attitude is still a big issue. He isn't much of a fighter on the court. That's the issue. If that's not going to change, it's always going to hold him back.

It is a combination of mental weakness and attitude.

Here´s a good highlights were you can see what happened. Federer earned his comeback on the third.

Kyrgios has issues, clearly.

I called a potential upset for either Johnson vs. Wawrinka or Evans vs. Cilic.

Once Fed was trailing 2-5, ESPN switched back to his match and so I saw live from there. What I need is low lights; how did Fed got himself into that position given that he is a front runner and playing with 2 sets in hand against an opponent who has never played him before.

The "problem" with Kyrgios is that he is a very good player who thinks that he is a great player. Maybe one day, but not yet.

I put "problem" in quotes as the guy is #13 in the world, so...

He is basically 2015 Nadal right now.

2015 Nadal made only 2 slam quarter finals so we'll soon see I guess. One definite similarity right now is the inconsistency from match to match for both Federer and Nadal. They can both play a great match one day and a complete dud the next or 1.5-2 good sets and horrible the rest of the match. Gets harder and harder to maintain concentration and hand eye coordination I guess as they get older. Also means it'd take a brave man to bet on either guy these days. You never know quite what to expect! :dodgy:

Then how long Novak and Muzz are going to last? if to be 30 is so bad and old age then they won't have to do too much soon, this year is their last chance, and maybe Wawrinka miraculously is going to be the only one to be able to win something?........
