Sad to see Dominic Thiem leave the building, particularly to a background of losing three tie breakers...

Vesely has made quiet progress this year also and only 22 himself. Maybe he is destined to be more than just a journeyman. Has also beaten Djoker this year.
Thiem losing for me was a bummer (and for my draw). Vesely was great, though. Dimitrov and Nishikori fought off challenges and a certain ennui from both of them.

It nice that they have a roof in Wimbledon but it would be even nicer if we could have some tennis on the court :) Why has nobody started on Centre Court yet ?

@masterclass made a decent point about not hammering the grass as it's a living surface and while I agree... a couple of hours earlier probably wouldn't hurt... They might as well utilise the roof.... it cost enough...

I was so close to putting Del Potro through in this one in my bracket, but I don't think he's quite ready for this level of opponent. Good match, though. And I'm still rooting for Del Potro.

Yep and Delpo takes the third to move ahead.

Commentator said that this is DelPo's first Major since AO14. Good heavens. Anyway, that was an odd set.
Looked like Stan would take is, as he was holding serve so comfortably. Then he fell apart in the breaker.

Dusty Brown takes the first set tiebreak against Kyrgios.

Love watching Brown... a throwback to the serve and volley days. Kyrgios has a problem to solve... close match though... the first set could have gone either way.

Got two matches on at once here.... this and the Stan/Delpo match... both entertaining.

Yes, I'm watching both, too. Fun shot-making in Brown/Kyrgios especially. Wawrinka not looking as sharp as he had been.

If I had before not too much interest in this Wimbledon with the exit of Garbine I have much less now. Hope to see Muzz playing wth a good confidence and been more consistent which is the key of all the success and also Raonic and Zverev

Same here, Carol. Wimbledon has always been my least favorite major because of the rains delays and preferential treatment. They were the ones who put Pete Sampras, a then six or seven-time champion on Court 17, I think it was, and I've hated that tournament every since. Every year they pull stunts like this, so I usually just fast forward through this tournament anyway, too much pretentiousness and snobbery to me.

28-Sam Querrey (U.S.) beat Thomaz Bellucci (Brazil) 6-4 6-3 6-2

Bellucci just can't seem to get any consistency. I suppose he's better on clay so this shouldn't be a surprise, but Sam is playing pretty well.

Jiri Vesely (Czech Republic) beat 8-Dominic Thiem (Austria) 7-6(4) 7-6(5) 7-6(3)

Hate to see Thiem go, but all of that overplaying may be hurting him as the season goes on. Still, Vesely is a pretty good player. He's one to watch, for sure.

Yep, everybody seems to forget Vesely ( I'm the first one ) but watching him today I remember that he can play well and to give more than one upset like he did before and also today :good:

The commentators are always sleeping on the job. They barely mention this guy and Vesely has got game.
