The Tournament:

The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and is considered by many to be the most prestigious.

It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877. It is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open. Since the Australian Open shifted to hardcourt in 1988, Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass.

It continues to honour many long-standing traditions, including a strict dress code for competitors, the eating of strawberries and cream, and royal patronage. In 2013, Andy Murray became the first British male singles champion since Fred Perry in 1936.

The Players:

World Number One and defending champion Novak Djokovic heads the field. The Serb has won the last four Grand Slams and is aiming for a historic calendar year Grand Slam. Winning Wimbledon would give him 3/3 this year with the US Open to play.

7 time winner Roger Federer and 2013 champion Andy Murray head up the remainder of the field which features all the top names with the exception of an injured Rafael Nadal.

Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev headline the next generation stars looking for their first grand slam title.

Aside from drawing Djokovic in the semi it is about as nice of a draw as Roger could hope for. If he is in any kind of good form he should reach that matchup but an early loss will not surprise me. He did not look good in either warmup tournament and now playing a best of 5 presents a different challenge after all the time off and possibly still having a bad back.

I don't put too much attention to the draw but I like to see how every player is going to play and I hope to see all of them in good form....(?)

Raonic and Federer in Djokovic half. I was hoping he would avoid those two, so that is disappointing. Pretty sure Murray will make the final and if Djokovic makes it there too, I'm not overly optimistic about the outcome. This will be Novaks toughest slam this year I expect.

I cannot believe Nole is losing in the quarters...;-):
I hope and think you are right Murat. But of the players ranked 5-8 I would have most preferred Djokovic to avoid Raonic. Besides I kind of like Raonic so I'd prefer him to play Novak in the final or so.

Nah, Nole will be alright. I was just hoping this year Milos would make the final. Bad draw to have Nole in the quarters. But if he somehow pulls it off...

I agree that his path to the semi is not at all bad. I guess we'll see how he's doing, physically. It should be up to him to get to the SF.

Djokovic doesn't have much in the way of banana peels until Raonic. Though his opening round against the Brit, James Ward, might be rowdy, with England in a nationalist mood. Maybe Kohlscreiber looming and either Goffin or Nishikori? Pretty light-weight, literally, though all tricky.

Murray, on the other hand, could get Kyrgios early (when he's most dangerous, if you ask me,) and Berdych, Wawrinka and Thiem loom in there. He does have the tougher draw, I'd say, esp. because Roger is a bit of a question mark.

Small notes. Poor Taylor Fritz gets Wawrinka as his first round, and if DelPo gets through his first round, he likely gets Stan. Not impossible, given his serve, and Stan's unreliability, but I wouldn't lay money on it. And Thiem's first round is with Florian Mayer, who just beat him in Halle. Let's see what Thiem is made of. He could be a danger, or he could go home 1st round.

Who knows. Sometimes things look easy but then get complicated in a hurry somewhere along the way. And sometimes draws look difficult at the start but clear out unexpectedly. At least Nole can't play both Anderson and Raonic, as they would have to square off against each other a round earlier, if all make it that far.

I should think you'd be more worried about Goffin than Anderson, but either way, he won't face but one of the 3.
