Stat of the day: Nick and Brown played a 5 set match, that lasted just 2 hours and 5 minutes. The longest set, the first set which went to a TB, lasted 32 minutes. :)

p.s. IMHO, the match did not live up to the expectations, with each player almost tanking sets the moment the other player got on lead. There were some interesting shots as expected, but as a whole the match was not interesting.

That's how it was "back in the day;" quick and sweet! All they needed was 1 break and the set was theirs!

It's raining again and play has been suspended. Wimby in quite a pickle w/ some of these 2nd round matches that didn't get completed today.

Truer words have never been spoken: :snicker

Can anyone help me with the following questions? My husband is flying to Wimbledon to watch Federer. He bought a seat in Center Court for two consecutive days. Does anyone know whether Federer has been assigned to a court other than Center Court in the last few years? If bad luck strikes and he can't watch his matches, are ticket holders allowed to see him practice?

This is the third time my husband is going to Wimbledon. The first two times, he missed him because Fed lost to Berdych and Stakovsky. Any insights would be appreciated since he is spending a small fortune trying to see him at this tournament.

Fed is treated like a God at Wimby. He will mainly be on Centre. The past few years, they relegated him to Court 1 a couple of times, but like GSM says w/ no Rafa there to share CC; Fed and Andy will be on CC for every round and I can see them even sending Novak to court 1 before they send Fed or Andy.

Wow, Novak saved by the weather. If the #1 player was on Centre Court, he could have been out.

Yeah, the weather has spoke. I think that happened against Anderson too, when he was two sets down, not too sure on the details...

I think either they played four sets before darkness interfered, or Novak was up a break in the 4th when play stopped

That's why I'm not sweatin' it! I think he'll be fine! Querry hasn't proved he can finish off anyone of Nole's status when it counts!  :ras:

He's beaten him before at the 2012 Paris masters and hard court is Novak's best surface by far.

Agree but this is different than last year where they resumed with Novak ahead in set 4. Completely different. Got home late and was pretty shocked by the score, especially the 2nd set. I still think Murray will win the title but if Novak loses then poor, old, hampered Wodger will be p1$$1ng himself and will perk right up.

Yeah, Wodger's never win these things actually going through the great players. He'll be wearing nappies on Sunday if Novak loses... :popcorn

We will find out tomorrow whether Sam is like Anderson, Simon and Andy all of whom let Novak off the hook before. It is not even best of 3 set match tomorrow for Sam. All that he needs is to win one of three sets.

But, if he cannot close it out in third or fourth, he probably will not do is in fifth either.

Roger has already defeated two British guys in this Wimbledon. All I want for Christmas is for Roger to defeat one more British guy at this Wimbledon :plot

Of the 32 singles matches scheduled today, less than half (15, to be exact) got completed. Eight are in progress and Nine did not even begin. Worse, 4 second round matches are not yet completed. So, Wimbledon decided to play on middle sunday.

I had all planned for a trip to the beach on Sunday, thinking there won't be play. I will miss most, if not, all of the Sunday matches.

They should have moved the Zverev's match (which was in 5th set) to the center court after Fed's match and finished it off. They decided not to too that and now he is screwed. He is the only one
whose second round match is not completed. :snicker

Now, they have scheduled him to complete his second round match on Saturday. They have scheduled all other Men's third round matches (except that of his potentiall opponent to have some semblance of fairness) on Saturday. Now, on Sunday there will be just two Men's matches.

All these complications could have been easily avoided by putting Zverev's match on the CC today itself (just like they did with Genie couple of days ago). After all, it was in final set with a score of 2-1 (on serve).
