what part of this you folks don't understand:

for my money andy is the heavy favorite but the stars have to line up just right just as they did at Wimbledon.

andy simply has to show up fit, hungry as hell, driven like never before, and be fully prepared so he can capitalize on the opportunities should they present themselves.

djokovic is suddenly under pressure. he failed early at Wimbledon.

my pick at the u.s. open is Andy.

my pick at Wimbledon was Andy. he delivered. I called that well in advance as you all know by now.

I'm pretty confident you won't find any serious tennis expert who agrees with you that Murray is the heavy favorite.

Andy has improved his chances by snatching the Wimbledon crown.

I am quite comfortable in picking him for the title at flushing meadows. but the stars have to line up right.

djokovic needs a couple of very long matches and andy has to gun them all down in straights in the early rounds as he starts to gain his traction.

heat and humidity is going to be a factor in new York.

folks landscape is changing now. now andy has some momentum and djokovic finds himself under some pressure.

andy doesn't have to win in new York but djokovic does.

it is djokovic who has said that he wants to go after roger's record of 17 slams. he has said that more than just once.

nishikori can be a factor at the u.s. open if he can stay healthy.

his game is coming around again. he is finding his traction again.

I still think nishikori can do well at the u.s. open.

he should be able to make the quarters or the semis.

It's a very weak argument for Murray being heavy favorite.

Juan Martin Del Potro has been awarded a Wild Card by the US Open.

"2009 US Open champion and Rio Olympics silver medalist Juan Martin del Potro headlines the list of men's players who have received a wild card to compete in the 2016 US Open in New York City later this month."

"Joining del Potro in the men’s main draw are Olympic mixed doubles silver medalist Rajeev Ram, USTA Boys’ 18s National Champion Michael Mmoh and USTA Pro Circuit Wild Card Challenge winner Ernesto Escobedo."

"Rising Americans Bjorn Fratangelo, ranked No. 116, Francis Tiafoe, No. 123, and 2016 NCAA singles champion Mackenzie McDonald, No. 416, were also awarded direct entry into the main draw."

"A final wild card will be issued to an Australian player through the USTA’s exchange program with Tennis Australia."

Respectfully,

I am hearing ya.

I don't think grass is his best surface. he ran into inspired Federer who could do no wrong.

there is no question he (cilic) has to show something in Toronto and Cincy. he has work to do.

And work he did, General. Cilic defeated Murray in the Cinci final.
Murray may have been a bit jaded, but Cilic played till 2 am. so no excuses.
Cilic is definitely at least a dark horse if not one of the top 5 favorites to repeat his success at the US Open.
It pays to listen to the experts. ;)

Respectfully,

When a player is exhausted or injured or sick the opponent always looks like "Superman"

I'm no fan of Cilic, but sometimes, when you're serving out of this world, and you're dug in, it's now about how your opponent looks. Cilic is an odd bird. And I don't think he could do this with doping. But he sure catches fire a random times.
