Unfortunately, I don't think Gasquet will hold up against Andy. Actually, Kei would be able to give better fight to Andy than Gasquet. Now, I think it is almost sure that Andy will reach SF.

You're assuming a lot; Gasquet hasn't wrapped up match yet, losing the 3rd to Kei! It wouldn't be the 1st time Richard as choked away a match in 5! :nono  :dodgy:

Is there any way we could censor photos of Murray on video clips so we don't have to see his big toothy gob wide open all the time ? :nono

Nishi is gone! Congrats to Gasquet! It would be nice if he could make it to the final. I have always liked him as a player, but I am not sure he can stop what is between his ears to do it.

Far too many errors from Nishikori today. Made it easy for Gasquet. Quasimodo has beaten Murray on clay before but not this time. He plays way too far behind the baseline to beat any of the top 4 here.

As great as his backhand looks there's another reason he has such a poor record against the top 4 and that is, he takes way too long to hit his backhand. The top guys won't give him the time to line up his shots and this in addition to playing way too far behind the baseline, means he doesn't have what it takes to beat them.

This is true, but to a lesser extent nowadays. As I was saying in other thread, I think the main reason Gasquet´s results have not been better was the athletic condition, which is getting better. The distance from the baseline will hurt him, but Murray has by far the worst offensive game of the top four.

Murray is obviously the favorite, but an upset is not impossible, specially if the Frenchman starts on fire, and should be really welcomed by anyone who likes beautiful tennis.

Well Gasquet's slam results have gotten significantly better Wimbledon 2015 SF, US Open 2015 QF, French Open 2016 QF. I mean anything is possible especially given how craptastic Andy was in his first two matches. Anything could happen the way this FO is rolling.

Na, Gasquet will just not be able to beat Andy. Andy might be crappy earlier. He would dial it up now in the business end.

Front, you completely forgot that Gasuqet doesn't have a forehand at all. It's just a rally shot to him, he rarely goes beyond pushing the ball back, and he does damage with his backhand. At least that's his game.
Look no further than Wimbledon semi in 2015. He competed well with Novak, and hit a few fancy backhand winners, but that's it. He lost in straights, having nothing to hurt him with. I said it a million times and I'll say it again, when Gasquet retires he should have a monument erected in his honour, for getting to top 10 in the world without a proper forehand. I don't like him too much, but what is right is right. Only Stan could box with that backhand.

I think Brugueras is doing a good job with him with tactics and mentality too
And also good job by Viñolas. If Raonic with the help of Moya and Mac can't do better then who is going to help him?

Yeah his FH is way weaker than his BH. You can see he runs around it a lot to hit with his BH. Too many years have gone by now and they still haven't done much except work on his fitness. No coach ever fixed all the other problems with his game. Playing 20 feet behind the baseline on every surface is just not a winning formula. For the record, Thiem plays way too far behind the baseline too but the difference with him is he has immense power off both wings so he gets it away with it against lesser opponents. Gasquet doesn't have massive power on any shot except his BH though and playing miles behind the baseline almost always results in losses against the top 4.

murray in the quarters..oh the glory. and gasgit keeps the home fans fire burning.

got more play in (again) than we were expecting, according to what the weather boffins were claiming, suppose we got lucky with the thunderstorm/shower configuration today, just a shortish delay/
