Darn right mrzz. Argentina have had a tough, tough Davis Cup team for years, they even have Delbonis in reserve. With Del Potro they are only stronger. I know there was some controversy between him and some others a while back, but what a big boost he is to the team.

I thought a more experienced Evans would be a better choice for the Brits, instead of wet behind the ears Edmund. Seems he just unraveled as the match went on and Pella got stronger. Oh well, the young need experience as well. Pella said he was inspired by Delpo's fight.

Well, to begin with, just for the fun, peak del Potro >> peak Murray.

Having said that, you have two teams with two top players, and with the rest of guys ranked around the same spots. It is the recipe of a hard fought tie. Murray is the #2 in the world, del Potro is coming from a long time off, but on the other hand Argentina has more depth on their team. On doubles, GB has the #1 player in the world, but Argentina always have good doubles teams. And Murray might be quite spent on sunday.

I mean, that would never be a walk in the park for team GB.

Pella, by the way, is a fine player. I very much expected him to win.

I thought Pella/Edmund would be a toss up on British soil on those courts.... and I expected Murray to beat Delpo. Not over yet, but huge uphill battle for GB. I can't see Edmund beating Delpo.

Have to agree with Andy. I thought this was one of his best matches.
He excelled in everything, except perhaps his backhand down the line at times.
Great serving, great lobs, great touch shots. Really well played.
He just lost to Juan who was also playing very well.
Someone has to lose.

Both pretty candid with their availability tomorrow.

I think the boys have to come through and let these top players rest for doubles.

Incredible tower of Tandil, fantastic match and now Argies have a good chance to go to final one more time

I am sure that the 0-2 in the first say is a chocker for the brits. While Pella is close to Edmund in ranking, Pella built his ranking almost exclusively on clay, while Edmund the opposite, on HC.
Therefore this match should not have been won by Pella.
Even is GB wins the doubles, I doubt they will turn over the whole tie.

I'm hoping for Argentina, so good to see Delpo back and there is some great support for him here. I really hate seeing both sides use same player in singles and doubles though, far too much for them especially after a season as heavy as this has been.

And Spain ascents to the World Group which they never had to leave after to win the doubles against a very good doubles specialists and in the worst conditions with a horrible heat and humidity :pompoms:
Conchita was taking a good care of them :-)2

herios is right and by now GB was supposed to win with 3-0 instead they are likely to lose.

So, if Argentina and Croatia play the final will that be in Argentina?

Well it's not over yet, if Andy wins tomorrow then the last match will decide. I don't know that Delpo had to play doubles today, he might be tired tomorrow. But perhaps not, I guess we'll see.

Murray cruises against Pella 6-3, 6-2, 6-3.

Dan Evans comes in for Kyle Edmund.
Leonardo Mayer comes in for Del Potro.

They are 1 set all in the deciding rubber..

Now when Murray is right behind No1e in the race, last thing I want to see is Murray wining Davis Cup to boost his confidence further.

If Edmund wasn't injured he was right choice for Britain. I watched him in person in Belgrade against Tipsarevic and I was amazed then as well as at US Open.

What a mistake to play Delpo in the doubles! A big gamble that has not paid off.

I see Murray took a long time off court at a key time in his match. Loads of sympathy from BBC team and doubtless from UK press tomorrow. Now if it had been Nole......

Mayer has elevated his serve and his game. He dominated the 3rd set and Evans just couldn't hang with him.
Evans needs to change something and somehow put pressure on Mayer or it's going to be over.

Evans is an odd player, capable of excellent tennis but not consistent. He plays his best when not expected to do well!

Feel sorry for him here, far too much at stake and a no win scenario for him. If he wins Murray will get the applause, if he loses he'll be blamed for the whole tie.

Murray will take the blame and Evans will be off the hook.
If Murray had won the 1st rubber it would be over.

I'd love you to be right and I agree with Murray winning 1st match of course but in media it will be brave injured Murray struggles through exhaustion and injury etc etc etc

Poor Evans has been snubbed by Davis cup selectors many times as well.

But well played Argentina, great tennis and so good to see Delpo back.

Final score, Argentina takes the tie 3-2 on the strength of Leonardo Mayer's fine performance in the deciding rubber, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. After the first set, he was the better player by a good margin, not that Evans played badly, he was just outclassed.

Congrats Argentina, good luck in the final vs. Croatia.

I missed all of this, but I'd love to at least watch the highlights of Murray v. Delpo. Was it epic, or just long? Also, who likes Argentina to final win DC? Delpo v. Cilic, I guess. I think Juan Martin has a lot of history to make right there. I'd bet Argentina.
